This is not a new delay. Greg Lombardi from Valve said on 9/22 that they were aiming for a "holiday" release, which would indicate something past Thanksgiving. Even earlier than that, I also posted on 9/15 in response to another of your threads about HL2 delay noting that most retailers had moved back to a 11/18 date and that we should also expect more delays.
If Valve has any consistency whatsoever, it has been in the egregious optimism of release dates - even from direct sources. I would not be all that surprised if further delays past 12/1 occurred.

considering that ATI spent about 6 million getting the release rights and such for it to go with the 9800 xt and 9600 xt, I bet ATI is fuming mad about it.
that was one of the selling points of those cards.

Its scheduled for November 3,2003, I went to EB and asked. The release prior to that was Oct. 17/03, so it was delayed a month. All I have to say is, "IT WORTH THE WAIT FOLKS!!!":D

EB and ebgames switched the release date to 11/18 by 9/15... even before Valve's 9/23 official announcement that it would be delayed. I wouldn't be optimistic about a 11/3 release.

Can anybody name a big name game that hasnt been delayed before release? I cant think of many.
Im not too worried were bound to get it befoe christmas so its not too long to wait. And we can probably play halo in the mean time.

Personally I can't wait for some DX9 games to finally hit the stores so I can take advantage of my hardware for a change !

Umm, more like 60fps with Major's rig.
I personally am happy about the delay, it's not long, it ensures the game is complete and finished, and considering that the source leaked contained tons of steam code and all of the CD-key protection, I can wait, I would rather have a delay than have a chance of some script kiddie ripping off my CD-key within minutes of hitting the net, and Valve has a chance to try and knock out a few of the inevitable cheats.

I dont like the idea of having to pay for steam updates at all though.
I think thats pretty discustng on valves part if they make us pay (taken from a story in this months PC gamer)
Im quite happy to pay full price for the game as long as its good, but thegreat thingabout HL was the mods, if they make sus pay or steam then it will damage the HL mod community and make me feel cheated.

how can you comment like that on games that havent even been released, moreover they are not even finished. i think they will both be great games, and dissolved, would you prefer years and yerars of half life and abattlefield mods instead of a new game just to get high frame rates? :rolleyes:

Either they'll see the stupidity of the idea, or people will find a way around it, never underestimate the power of teh hax0rs. :D
And I now hate PC Gamer, they keep bringing me more info on Half-Life 2 every month, making the wait even worse. :D

Same thing happened with Everquest, Warcraft III, and even Planetside is being worked on now... 8-)
