Ok well I always wanted a cube case but there are no nice aluminium cases here in Australian and I don’t want to shell out ~250 in shipping fees alone to get a nice UFO or a 343. So I saw some people here who had stuck two cases together and I thought it looked alright so I decided to do the same. I went with the A09B because it looks nice and I didn’t really need 2 full towers so this mid tower is better space wise. They were pretty cheap too.

Cases. Warning, cat butt.

I had originally planned to have my rads on the top and back of the case. However I soon learned about sleeve bearings and decided to mount my rads on the front and back of my case with a rad grill on the top to exhaust the hot air.

Cutting the front panel.

If you haven't ever cut anything all I can say is tape is your best friend.

Side by side.
http://www.animeforum.com/image/8175848d56c3c7d035.jpg

The next task was to see if everything was in working order so I set everything up on my desk.
http://www.animeforum.com/image/8175848c8fe0397a2e.jpg
Intel hs is so awesome.
http://www.animeforum.com/image/8175848c8fe04163db.jpg
So this is how everything was for 2 weeks and yeah . .. . GTX260 stock cooling is actually alright. Temps didn't go over 55C with 60% fan. Of course if I oced it some more temps would be sky high. I also observed that my SB was very cool, so cool that I couldn't really feel any heat whatsoever. Oh well MCW30 shall find you rather attractive I hope ;).

Windows. I need a window. I bought the acrylic from GamMods and it's great stuff. No problems cutting it and at the end I looked like I have been in a small snow storm. Here it is all done. You can also see what's happening next door. I used one of the spare side panels I had to get the material. I also did a similar thing on the rear to accommodate the other rad.
http://www.animeforum.com/image/8175848d56f280f080.jpg

Had to use an Enzo sink because of the ram slots. It fits nicely now.
http://www.animeforum.com/image/8175848d56ffe540ee.jpg

Figuring out loop order.
http://www.animeforum.com/image/8175848d56ffe7b1e6.jpg
Yes my SB is first but I don't think it matters one bit and I did it this way to have a nice tubing in a Malik like way.
http://www.animeforum.com/image/8175848d56ffea49f8.jpg
http://www.animeforum.com/image/8175848d571477e95e.jpg

Bleeding took 4 hours which isn't that bad because I do have a big loop with multiple blocks and rads.
http://www.animeforum.com/image/8175848d57147ad79f.jpg

So a report. Sure. Leak testing is great. I found out that the Bitspower barbs were leaking because they are too obese so on went the Enzotech barbs on my mosfet block. The block is pretty narrow and yeah you get the rest. Second leak was at the same block where the tubing had not been put on correctly. Who did that :shakes:

All in all I'm having a blast. I've had a tonne of scares including almost bricking my mobo but I'm sort of liking this. Temps are fine on stock cooling and I'll work on an oc during the holidays. I NEED to finish sleeving the rest of my pcie cables and of course clean up my case. I still have to add some switches for the CCFLs too.

Nice man, those A05's look the biz teamed up like that.

Out of curio, what tubing is that? Been looking for some UV green stuff that isn't Feser.

Very Nice MomijiTMO!

That's a good idea - using two cases. Will they be connected or just sit side by side?

I hope there will be more pics - perhaps even a shot or two of the other end of that cat. :)

You might have the "ONLY" LiLi build I truly can appreciate...
What about Rainmaker (http://www.million-dollar-pc.com/systems-2008/lian-li/rainmaker/lian-li-343b-rainmaker.htm)?

BTW, great job Momo!

That side-by-side is really awesome. So clean! Can we get a few internal shots of the rad box, take a look at how you mounted the rads?

I would have gone with thinner tubing myself, maybe 3/8-1/2, but what you have looks great.

Ok this is going to sound utterly insane but my rads are not yet properly attached to my fans. I need shorter M3s lol. They are sort of attached with cable ties but of course this does impact on temps. My fans are set in push so it's not as bad as the same thing in pull. When I get the right screws either tomorrow or the following day, I'll post the photos =D

Oh and yeah thinner tubing might not be such a bad idea. It barely impacts on flow and would make the case less cluttered.

Well I took in RRR's comment but I will have more photos when things get a move on :D

I had a good think about the power supply position but decided to leave it where it is because I cannot mount it in the same place in the second case due to the radiator. I was thinking of attaching it in the middle but that would make it impossible to turn off which is handy when a leak springs. While I'm pretty much over the constant checking for leaks, I still like to be able to cut power in a few seconds.

2. has one of those names which it took me half a year to figure out that I had been reading wrong. :shakes:
lol. This is a name I've been using for a while now on forums and I honestly don't care what you call me :D. MomijiTMO/Momiji/Momi/Momo/tosser are all fine.

ATM I sort of have to put things on hold to start a 15 page report on something. Actually I have 2 assignments and both are due at the end of October. Holy cow this is going to take a bit =X

Ok got things going again.

The most frustrating and useless thing I've done so far was the quest to find screws for my rads and fans. The XSPC rad takes M4s whereas the Swiffy takes M3s. I had to use some nuts as spacers to ensure there was no contact as that would really suck hard. So after about 3 different stops to Mitre10 in Brisbane, I eventually had the right stuff going and my RADS WERE ATTACHED . Just to amuse you guys, with my rads standing in front of the fans, my temps were 3C higher. I found that quite interesting. Of course if your fans were pulling then things wouldn't be so merry.

Started ocing this pc and got to 3.6GHz on 1.392Vcore, 1.26NB, 1.19VTT and my ram happily on 1.87. When I start going for decent PLVLs and tighter timings I'll be pumping in the volts. So far when I have gone for a better PLVL and if it isn't stable, my pc will crash just after the CMOS is saved and then I have to do a full CMOS clear as the board hangs at C1. So this is pretty god damn annoying.

I still haven't got around to sleeving but hey I'll get board of gaming eventually and tackle that. Until then . .. . oh yeah cables are so hideous. I have to also add my switches to a front bay panel but don't have the right drill bits atm so that's on hold. So here are a few more pictures including a shot of the rad box and how the rads are attached.

Fear the hot air which is exhausted from here.

http://www.animeforum.com/image/8175848df07573ec93.jpg
Side panel off second case. My hdds get some warm airflow but I stuck a spare LiLi fan on the upper most one [OS] to keep it cool. Gotta make this side more appealing some how

http://www.animeforum.com/image/8175848df06fb3e802.jpg
Rear XSPC rad and fans. I love the Panaflos so much more than the Kazes. You can see that there is a space between the rads and the fans. The Swiffy rad doesn't have this issue. It is a much nicer rad if you ask me and is slightly wider which can only be a good thing.

http://www.animeforum.com/image/8175848df069b78cd3.jpg
I have a D-Tek Fuzion V2 lol

http://www.animeforum.com/image/8175848df05e597f90.jpg
The pump is elevated with spare LiLi hdd rubber spacer things. I cut some clearflex I have around to make it stable so there is no wobble.

http://www.animeforum.com/image/8175848df05e5c8cc0.jpg
Pretty big issue here. My gtx260 is being pushed down by the tubing so I needed to help it out. For the time being I have just stuck some tubing underneath the pcie connectors to keep the other end up. I might do what the other guys are doing and use some fishing wire to keep it suspended and straight.

http://www.animeforum.com/image/8175848df05e55aef2.jpg
Random shot. Check out the crazy zig zag of Swiffy mosfet heatsinks. I managed to find a way for them to work without using the dremel.

That is one amazing build!
You got the cases from MSY or Pccasegear? 2x A09's is somewhat cheaper then one case!
I might get a A09 for my secondary rig, you have inspired me!
What did you use to cover the Rheobus? Its quiet nice
Good work :)

MomijiTMO
09-28-2008, 12:54 AM
I got mine from Gamedude in Brisbane because MSY weren't selling them way back then. Cases is about the only thing I would buy from Gamedude because the service is terrible. I used a LiLi bay drive cover so that's why it fits in.

I could look into those too but I sort of don't like the look of it if you know what I mean. There isn't much room in the main case as the pump occupies the hdd position. I'm now giving some serious thought into moving my psu into the second case.

What's with the SLI video card on top of the case? :guitar: :)
It's just the stock cooler =p. I think I'm over looking at it and will whack it back in the box.

Thanks RRR for the compliment.

me think thats a Lian Li original with some of their newer cases...

might have to wait a while and request for that specific part to become available to the masses though...
as installing with other cases require you to do some measurement and DIY modding to make this part fit...

Hey Momo,

How did you mount the rad/radgrill to the front of the case? What do the four silver bolts screw into? Do you have a plate which everything is attached to?

Need pics!:D

MomijiTMO
10-06-2008, 05:26 AM
Camera bat is charging =__=.

Not to worry I'll try to explain it. I'm referring to the image below.

http://www.animeforum.com/image/8175848df06fad36d0.jpg

Ok so I cut away much of the front panel. Using some of the side panel [don't need 2] I cut a piece of aluminium which is attached from behind via the four external bolts. I cut a rad grill out of this piece so the front panel now looked like a normal 360 rad hole. The rad grill went on the front and the smaller bolts go like:

---------------BOLT-------------->
rad grill -> aluminium sheet -> fan.

Then I attached the rad to the fans. [actually all of this is done in reverse but it is too hard to explain it the other way lol].

twwen2
10-06-2008, 03:44 PM
Nah i get it. Good idea. And you used a dremel to do the cutting yeah?
