After 7v-ing stock case fans & a PWM HSF, remaining noisy item was GFX. Decided to try out the Accelero S2 (http://www.arctic-cooling.com/vga2.php?idx=125)...

Candidate for the surgery is a factory OC'd Xpertvision 8500GT Sonic edition 256MB DDR3 (spec here (http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/5xzn5/))

Struggled (a-bit) with that latch mechanism. Note the 'are you sure you want to proceed' AKA warranty sticker

Quite dirty

Nice & clean. Cotton buds helped but left fibres  IPA & spectacles cloth cleaned thoroughly

RAMsinks on. But came into a problem here. Notice the thermal compound is smudged...

...happened when aligning the card & cooler to see which holes it fits in since AC don't provide info for this card. BTW use hole 3, same as for 7600 & 6600.
But that's why I don't like pre-applied stuff

Fitted

Used the included plastic clips because cooler was seating on some tall capacitors. Also, length blocks 2 top SATA ports which has worried me. But that's down to mobo design not the Accelero. Think I can get away with some L-shape cables though

Idle temps are still around the same 46°C & load (20-mins HL-2) 57°C.

Overall happy with result since nowadays hardly play games but THE SILENCE!!! Stock fan ran at full speed because of the OC, gathering dust every 2-months making it nosier.

Any tips for the backplate of the stock cooler?

I have the exact same one for my 8800GT, I don't want to remove it and make it look like I removed it (e.g. scratches...)

btw, how comes your dust is orange? :p:
