hi xs. i've been a silent admirer and pupil of the great builds from this forum. i registered for quite sometime but only got activated yesterday. :) so finally, i can post and share with you my first attempt at water cooling. most of the techniques i learned from the other worklogs here, so please pardon me if it seems that i have copied them off you, i will give credit to whom credit is due. :)

all comments/advice are welcome. looking forward to your expertise in my rookie attempt.

just a short intro...

i assembled my 'new generation' pc several months ago but it was such a rushed and sloppy job, that i never really got to document it and have a proper worklog. it was mainly to have my own pc and not abuse the laptop that i got from work. hehe. the rig evolved to what it is currently after being poisoned continuously (haha)... but kidding aside, i wanted a workhorse of a computer for internet, video, gaming, music and folding.

why name the rig, raistlin? naming the rig i guess is as important as the project itself. so i had to have some awesome name... when i was younger, i used to read dragonlance (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragonlance) novels. raistlin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raistlin_Majere), is a character in those series. he is a wizard that started out sickly and weak but eventually became powerful. not that i aim to have the most powerful rig, but rather because he used to belong to the red and black orders of magi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wizards_of_High_Sorcery#Alignment), which are the basic colors that i want to use for rig. hopefully, the system would be fitting to the antihero that it derives its name.

what's up with those hardware? i have to admit, i'm not an overclocker nor a hardcore hardware nut. when i initially thought about assembling my own pc, i only wanted to use it for basic purposes as mentioned earlier. however, when i found out about folding@home, i became more interested in upgrading and making the pc better for that purpose. and since folding seemed more efficient using the gpu client, i thought it was better to have multiple gpus rather than multiple cpus (which was either having a skulltrail or multiple pcs running at the same time); that should explain the numerous gtxs in my system.

why go watercooling? having a minimally overclocked cpu and 3 gpus running can turn my case into a mini oven in a few minutes. haha. with fans blowing at my right, i think i am slowly losing my hearing. my main aim is to keep my hearing and the right side of my body from being cooked.

wtf folding!? i found out about folding@home (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Folding@home) when i was reading magazines regarding pcs when i was researching on building my pc and eventually caught on when i joined vrzone (http://kakaostats.com/t.php?t=48269), since i am based in singapore this was the local forum with the best information about getting pc stuff locally. i guess folding eases the guilt on buying so much hardware and using up electricity (haha)... in exchange for contributing to the research on protein folding which i hope would help in finding cure for diseases. after my dad lost a brave battle against cancer last july 2008, i am more determined to do what i can to help fight this dreaded disease.

so what's up with all this blah blah? haha. nothing, just me mumbling. it's my first worklog! cut me some slack why don't ya... haha. let's get on with the project...

as for the next build... it's going to be the same hardware as now, except that it would be watercooled.
hopefully, my fear of putting water system inside the pc would not be realized!

i could only work on the project a little bit at a time...

the top of the cosmos s has a removable cover on top.
http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh73/bianco26/Project%20Raistlin/TheCase_CosmosS/TopCover/resIMG_2753.jpg

but the bottom part of the cover, it has these plastic that were probably there for structural support, but it looks like they restrict some flow...

BTW This looks like a freakin awesome build, I like the Supreme the best with the Delrin top just as the 280 blocks.

I'm also buying me a EK top for my MCP655 after seeing this sexy thing ;)

btw, the ek d5 top doesn't fit on an un-modded undesign 3g universal pump bracket (http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/unde3gunpubr.html). i found out late when my orders for the mounts came in. the hazards of online shopping and laziness in research. haha.

You have put alot of effort to this?Any ideas if you copy the idea where the gtx waterblock was placed inside stockcooler around it?Cant remember what thread was it but it did look supercool when it look almost default gtx but two fittings popped out middle of nowhere.
That build must cost you alot, enough of that!MORE PICS!

hi N3it1, i saw that implemented twice here in the forum, but i don't think i'll be going down that road. i think i've had enough of seeing the stock cover. haha. as for the cost, well... hopefully after this project, i wouldn't be upgrading for the next 3 years? if i don't get tempted with new tech. :p: i will definitely have more pics!... as long as no one objects to a thread flooded with pics. :D

hi skinnee. honestly, i have no idea. i'm thinking the 2 acrylic ones are rev.2 while the acetal top is rev.3. just because i got the 2 sooner (2 months ago from pts) and the acetal later (late aug from swc). if you can let me know how to differentiate, i can check and let you know. /end of noob ramble...

You did some really great sleeving! How did you keep track of all the 24 pin mobo connector pins?

Also, those EK D5 tops are sweet! I really liked using it in my build as it took up less room and allowed for compression fitting...good stuff.

Lastly your "B" made out of compression fittings cracks me up! Talk about free advertising! I've been really pleased with compression fitting and elbows from them though...good stuff....

hi Mark! thanks man.

i usually take a picture of the pins before i take them out of the molex. then i'd just view them again to make sure i put it back correctly.

yeah, that's the main reason why i got the ek d5 top... to put compression fittings on them. but i can only use comp fitting on the intake.good enough though. :D

Glad that you sad that the EK top doesn't fit the UN Design bracket, i've got the bracket for my MCP655. It isn't a big deal because we are modders because we want to mod everything ;)

Great job on the sleeving :) With kinda sleeving are you using? The MDPC stuff of something else? I'm sleeving my SATA cables to but I don't have the right size for the shrinktube.

haha. touche! unfortunately, noob jitters - i didn't want to ruin the un design bracket nor the ek d5 top. so i just went another way instead in mounting the pumps.
for the sleeves, i used the techflex from ppc. i only got to know about the mdpc stuff after i have the techflexes with me. for the sata cables, i used the 3/8" sleeves and the 18mm heatshrinks (only because i didn't get the plugs off... :P)

i wasn't really planning on having ram coolers. i only used the dominator airflow for about a week.. then ditched them because it was interfering with the true120black that i relied on before the project. but when i saw this mod on xs... mod ramcoolers - added to the to-do-list! haha.. :D

So.. really... expecting a child next month... and simultaneously building a computer...

First of all, the drug market in SG must really be flourishing.. great demand eh? Gotta do what we gotta do to fund the computer abyss :)

Second, you're going to finish building the computer and then let it fold, correct? Because the next time you are going to see your computer is six months later lol I went through the baby thing four times, so I know you wouldn't be using the machine lol

take a bitspower temperature sensor fitting

and a temperature sensor with an lcd readout
http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh73/bianco26/Project%20Raistlin/TheSENSOR_Mod/resIMG_3870.jpg

finally, an asus temperature sensor (for onboard mobo temp meters)
http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh73/bianco26/Project%20Raistlin/TheSENSOR_Mod/resIMG_3871.jpg

a bit of soldering
http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh73/bianco26/Project%20Raistlin/TheSENSOR_Mod/resIMG_3857.jpg

finished product
http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh73/bianco26/Project%20Raistlin/TheSENSOR_Mod/resIMG_3869.jpg

http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh73/bianco26/Project%20Raistlin/TheSENSOR_Mod/resIMG_3868.jpg

hopefully, when i put the bitspower temp sensor with the loop - i can see the temp reading in 3 display output:
(1) lcd readout - which i can see from the side panel,
(2) mobo/everest/asus software - from monitor
(3) *optional 5.25 bay device - from the front

yes, i would like to be constantly consoled that all the hardwork i put in wc'ing is so much worth the temp gains... or rather loss. :D

not yet, would test first thing when i have assembled the loop. right now in the thick of case mods. :D...metalwork (my weakness!). i'll let you know how it goes, but you do let me know as well if you get it in your loop earlier.

had to rush finalizing the case, especially the painting

1, my wife will be starting to work from home and the paint fumes would be bad
2, it hasn't been raining lately here, must take advantage of the sun!
3, i have to finish the build before my bday next week! :ROTF:

i know i'd be breaking the standards of xs with a crappy case prep, but a rookie is entitled to mistakes, yes? anyways, i think there won't be anyone more disappointed than myself... *sigh*

anyways, here it goes...

disassembled case, with markings for where the mobo was, masked and drew where i plan to cut holes for added ventilation/access on the back of the mobo
http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh73/bianco26/Project%20Raistlin/TheCase_CosmosS/Chassis/MoBo%20Tray/resIMG_3491.jpg

cut... more like nibbled by the nibbling tool. whoa! lion was hiding behind all along!
http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh73/bianco26/Project%20Raistlin/TheCase_CosmosS/Chassis/MoBo%20Tray/resIMG_3645.jpg

after some mock-ups, i realized that the wires from psu can't be hidden under the mobo, clearance provided by the raisers weren't enough. so i nibbled another hole for wire management
http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh73/bianco26/Project%20Raistlin/TheCase_CosmosS/Chassis/Mounting/resIMG_3813.jpg

the strip with drill holes beside it, are for the res
http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh73/bianco26/Project%20Raistlin/TheCase_CosmosS/Chassis/Mounting/resIMG_3831.jpg

removed the mesh on top for the 360 rad
http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh73/bianco26/Project%20Raistlin/TheCase_CosmosS/Chassis/Mounting/resIMG_3829.jpg

nibbled the bottom to have hole for the 240 rad

all the sleeves i got from ppc. they're the techflex pet brand.
1/8" for the single wires (ie atx cables, pcie cables)
1/4" for the fan wires (or anything that's too fat to fit in the 1/8")
3/8" for the sata cables

good luck and have fun modding! :)... and of course, share your masterpiece here in xs. :D

was hoping to get your opinion guys...

if i do a push-pull config on both of the rads - that would mean 10 fans (scythe sflex g's)
what would be a good alternative to control these 10 fans? considering i already have 1 nzxt fan controller with 5 headers...

a, 1 fan controller channel per fan?
b, solder/daisy chain the fans into groups and put in 1 fan controller channel per group? how many fans per channel?

thanks for the help.

the fan controller looks really nice and quite useful. although it would've been nice(r) if: (1) the interface/screen was customizable, (2) can accommodate more fans per channel - it only supports 0.4amp per channel.

thanks Jor3lBR!

you can't imagine how hard i work on getting the cam steady with my damn shaky hands for those shots that i can't use a tripod. hhaha. your compliment makes it all worth it. :D

the microcool chip rubbers are for the chipsets. i put it on the microchip area before i mount the waterblock on the motherboard's northbridge and southbridge. prevents the accidental chipping of the chips from uneven pressure from the heatsink/waterblock above it.

i was actually aiming for a 2-tone. black on the outer shell... red on the inner compartment. eventually decided to go with all black:

1, must finish painting immediately because my wife will be working from home as well, since she's on the final phase of her trimester (one more month and i've got a son to play with! haha)

2, the red inside the compartment would be too overwhelming! haha.

yup, that's the usual configuration of the hd bays (cm and lili). suck cold air from the outside, then blow inside the case hopefully exhausted to the back. only difference between cm and lili - cm, the fans are placed before the hds.

haha. mm cases are like mansions for pc components. good choice! i'm sure you'd have more configurations for your stuff to put in. :D i've been toying with the idea of having a 'torture rack' type of case. i'm still fiddling with google sketchup and see what i can come up with. those loops are really killing the airflow and it's a big pita to reach in and fix things on the mobo.

as for the temps... i've just finished hooking everything up. will have to install the os and drivers, etc. will have it posted once done. a bit busy this weekend, need to meet up with interior decorators to fix up a new apt that my wife and i bought. :D

actually those are about 10ft of tygons. minus the trimmings that i had to do while fitting it in. right now, there's hardly any air coming from the front to the mobo area. i haven't placed the side panel in so that air can freely go from the side.

no problem man. that was one of my earlier plans for the pump - have them in drivebays. but eventually, i decided, i needed the drivebays more. matter of priority... need compromise, i guess.

Wow, that's a crazy inventive way to mount, that's great.

haha. thanks bro. problem with the mount is that it doesn't fit the ek d5 xtop perfectly. i didn't want to drill holes in either the top or the mount. if i used the undesign bracket, i'd have to use the stock d5 mount.

it was a pretty hectic last week. my wife's checkup, my mother-in-law was in town, my bday mini-celebration, the singapore f1, my sister flying back to manila for holiday, and best of all... getting some work done on the project. :D

finally got to upload the pics and have the project log updated:
starting with the point wherein i stripped the mobo off the stock cooling

Bianco bare with me I am going thru a lot and I am slowly catching up with your log, I don't wanna turn to the last page and spoil the ending!!!

First off let me tell how lucky you are to watch that F1 GP  I have dual citizenship US/BR and my heart whne it comes to F1 is all Brazilian :)

Massa had terrible luck but that's what makes F1 exciting, I'm glad there ar more fans here in XS that we can open our own F1 thread.

Returning to the topic I love how EK make all the blocks for Asus they look amazing and fits your project like a glove. I had a hell of a time to get mosfet and decent nb blocks for my DFI.

I also enjoyed how those backplate are nice and tidy!

Your paint job ended up very nice too I had trouble with the cold northern arizona weather but I got my painting done as well.

And man 1 more thing YOUR SPEED makes me feel embarrassed :ROTF: Your so fast I can't keep up with all updates... I'm still far away to get my project done do to lack of some parts, some minor bumps along the road or pure lazyness.

Well I hope to see the rest of your log soon so I can see the finished project!

F1: go Massa! go Ferrari!

thanks Jor3lBR for the kind words.
yeah, was disappointed that massa didn't win the first sg race. i was actually a ferrari fan, but when i read how good massa interacted with the fans (as compared to the other drivers...), he won my respect.

i had to rush the paintjob and metalwork... all those that would irritate my wife basically. haha. because she'll be going on maternity leave soon and i dare not anger a pregnant woman bearing my son with all the noise and fumes. haha. so it was the sense of urgency that spurned me on. but believe me... if it wasn't for this, i'd still be on the planning stage. :D

i'll be having an update on the temps real soon... i'm having some trouble with the gpus.

your progress is doing quite well also. quite eager to see your extreme cooling!

as for f1... well, i assemble model cars and f1 cars are quite nice to put on display. not much of a fan of bikes, but who knows when i have finished assembling all types of cars, i'd be going into bike models.

Insane!

Man that build is something. I would of never thought you would of managed to fit everything in that Cosmos case! Wow! Well done!

The case looks like a Nuclear weapon or something Haha! :D

I have 2 questions for you. Maybe i missed them through the 7 pages long thread :D

Where did you got the Microcool Core protector from ?

And did the back-plates came with the mosfet blocks or you had to order them separately?

Thanks and really, again, well done on that thing man! It's one hell of a dream PC! Oh and BTW: When are we seeing some Gaming Benchmarks? :D

i got the microcool core protector and mosfet wb backplates from swc.
i had to order the backplates separately since the wbs didn't come with it. looking at the backplates now, i'm thinking of painting them as well just to fit the red-black theme better. haha.

as for the benchmarks... that's the frustrating part. my temps right now for the gpus are nuclear hot. haha. when i run 3dmark06, it shuts down due to heat (temp at ~100degC). i have asked for advise regarding it:

1, gpu-wb contact not so good
2, gpu wb not screwed tight enough
3, not enough airflow
4, gpu wb issue

i'm still waiting for this weekend to drain the loop, unmount the gpus, clean up the chips, mount again using mx2, tighten screws and put it all in again.

just thinking about all those tasks makes me... hahaha.

Ya man, i know how frustrating watercooling can be, trust me. I hate having to un-loop and re-loop over and over when all of a sudden you get a weird problem. HATE IT! That's the big problem with watercooling...

Anyway, thanks for pointing out where you got the back-plates and core protector. I had completely forgot about Sidewinder Computers.

As for your problem, i would bet it's a bad mounting... Maybe adding a 120mm just in front of your 3 cards but i doubt it would make much of a difference for the moment. If you hit 100c running 3DMark06, imagine what you'd get running Crysis maxed out...Heh

2 questions comes to my mind tho, are you sure the pump(s) you are using for your GPU loop are correctly working (Flow going on normally) ?

And what radiator are you using for that GPU loop ?

EDIT: I can't seem to find the Microcool Core Protectors on SWC.com... I'm probably just blind... Can you shoot me the link?

haha. makes me want to get a 'torture rack' type of case. :p:
yeah, i'll be taking the gpus out this weekend. hope it does the trick!
the gpu pump is working fine (got the vipercheck moving along smoothly) and as for the gpu rad, i'm using the tfc 360.

i think the core protectors are out of stock in swc. i can't seem to find them as well. but looking through my email/transactions i found these:

Microcool - Core Protective Rubbers - 5 Pack
Unit Price - $3.95

maybe you can shoot an email to Gary and have a check when would they have it back available.

Sounds good. Will shoot him an e-mail. I am myself preparing (Hopefully) my next project :D That's only if the GF let me do it... She hate it when I'm on computers. "It's my passion honey. Let me do it or else I'll never be happy" :with: It's not like if i really needed her "Ok" for it...Lol

For your GPU temps prob, it's probably just a bad mount. Maybe screws aren't tightened enough. Or maybe it's missing thermal compound... That rad should be able to handle the heat load no prob. Are you getting 100c on all 3 cards or only 1 of them ?

yup, probably that's the reason. got the weekend to find out. actually the 100degC would just be the first and the third. the middle one is fine. so i guess it's really how i had the other 2 mounted. :p:

yes. the weekend has almost come to an end and...
...i haven't drained my loop...
...i haven't re-mounted my gpus...
...still status quo for the build...

but i...
...bought a new case...
...got a rotary tool to make modding easier and faster...

because i...
...might be seeing my son in a few days!!!

really have to bring this project to a close
hopefully, when i'm done with mod and painting the case, the bp fittings would be available

i need the rotary Qs and 45s. it would really cut down the loop-the-loops of my loops. :D

have you tried those viper checks with BP or EK spacers to fit those BP temp probes?...

thanks pare! :) still nothing compared to the tantric and other pinoy creations.

yup, i have tried using the ek spacers but it's too thick for the temp sensor to 'bite' into the threads on the viperchecks. i haven't tried using bp spacers. anyways, i have plan b for temp sensors and it depends on the batch of rotaries that i have ordered. :D

Awesome build! I'm sure RRR would like the red haha

So did this temp rig you made up work? Looks like a handy mod for sure.

Oh & where did you get those microcool chip protector rubbers from?

finally got to work on this idea that i have been toying in my head... hope it works:

take a bitspower temperature sensor fitting
http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh73/bianco26/Project%20Raistlin/TheSENSOR_Mod/resIMG_3873.jpg

and a temperature sensor with an lcd readout
http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh73/bianco26/Project%20Raistlin/TheSENSOR_Mod/resIMG_3870.jpg

finally, an asus temperature sensor (for onboard mobo temp meters)
http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh73/bianco26/Project%20Raistlin/TheSENSOR_Mod/resIMG_3871.jpg

a bit of soldering
http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh73/bianco26/Project%20Raistlin/TheSENSOR_Mod/resIMG_3857.jpg

finished product
http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh73/bianco26/Project%20Raistlin/TheSENSOR_Mod/resIMG_3869.jpg

http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh73/bianco26/Project%20Raistlin/TheSENSOR_Mod/resIMG_3868.jpg

hopefully, when i put the bitspower temp sensor with the loop - i can see the temp reading in 3 display output:
(1) lcd readout - which i can see from the side panel,
(2) mobo/everest/asus software - from monitor
(3) *optional 5.25 bay device - from the front

yes, i would like to be constantly consoled that all the hardwork i put in wc'ing is so much worth the temp gains... or rather loss. :D

thanks 2low4u.
and another thanks for reminding me of that mod! almost forgot that one because got a bit side tracked with the gpu temp issue.

anyways, it works for the lcd readout. and i think the lcd readout is correct. i do not have any other temp sensor to check, but it looks logically correct. as for the other 2 output channels that i hoped would work: (1) drive bay - gives out weird temp or sometimes even zero reading... (2) mobo sensor - the system is such a jungle, i cannot plug the sensor plug onto the mobo.

i have a new case for the system, i will be modding the case and eventually move everything in that new case. i'm sure it would have enough room... and i can continue with the check better. will update. and if i forget, you guys can remind me.

the chip protectors, i got them from swc. but it looks like it's out of stock or removed from their online shop. you can email gary of swc about it.

Hey Bianco I need a measurement, if it's not a big deal for you can you tell me how many millimeters from side to side has the EK Mosfet Backplate you got?

If you don't have any access to the backplate anymore just give me like a ballpark.

hi Jor3lBR, i knew that making a huge hole at the back of the mobo tray would be beneficial. haha. unfortunately, i cannot place the ruler/measuring tape really close to the back plates, but here are the ballpark figures:

it's roughly 9cm or 90mm in length and 1.6cm or 16mm in width.

hope that helps.

update:

project postponed for the meantime.
last week, after an ultrasound the doctor found that my son was in the wrong position (top of the head pointing at the left side)and not conducive to normal delivery
she scheduled another checkup today to check if he is in the correct position, if he wasn't a c section would be needed
however, it turned out good in today's scan.
he has assumed the correct position (head pointing down) and there won't be a need for c section.
but to make sure we catch him in this favorable position, we will have to induce labor and deliver him out tomorrow.
i have taken leave from work for the rest of the week until my son and wife are out of the hospital
no work for the project planned for the moment
but who knows, maybe my wife will throw me out of the hospital room and banish me to pc casemod duty... (i wish.. haha.. kidding)!

Congratulations bianco !!!

Now get Uncle Lee Jr. to get you the tax benefit.. just kidding.

Now, just a word of advice. Park money overseas in some nice western country, like Canada or Aussie land, or somewhere even more remote like South Africa lol Definitely slip your boy out of SG before his 12th birthday, preferrably before he turns 10 years old. Otherwise, every Sunday evening, you will be driving your boy to Changi for the ferry to Pulau Tekong roflmao. Remember that the cash bond at 12 years old is SGD200K and that becomes SGD500K after 16 years old. Now, maybe your are wealthy and can pay off Uncle Lee Jr., but I wouldn't give him a penny :)

YOu will be having time to sleeve your fan wires as you stay up watching your biy sleep. Forget about sleeping for the next year :p:

hahaha. wonderful advice! been dreading the thought of sending off my son to ns. especially with quite a number of news of nsmen dying during training.

haha. yup, my wife reminded me of the shifting we used to do for my daughter. i stay up as late as i can and fulfill the feeding routine (for my daughter, last milk feeding was 3am), then i sleep and it's her turn after that. i took that because i'm better at staying up late than waking up in the middle of night or very early morning! hahah. one more year of that... and about 100ft of cable sleeves coming soon....hahah

why name the rig, raistlin? naming the rig i guess is as important as the project itself. so i had to have some awesome name... when i was younger, i used to read dragonlance (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragonlance) novels. raistlin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raistlin_Majere), is a character in those series. he is a wizard that started out sickly and weak but eventually became powerful. not that i aim to have the most powerful rig, but rather because he used to belong to the red and black orders of magi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wizards_of_High_Sorcery#Alignment), which are the basic colors that i want to use for rig. hopefully, the system would be fitting to the antihero that it derives its name.

:)

Why for as long as ive been surfing this Forum or any forum, Ive never heard someone mention Raistlin Majere, and the Dragonlance series, I used to read them when I was younger. Raistlin Majere definately kicks some ass. Awesome choice.

'Tis the beginnning. Wait till you get to "But dad.." and "I don'thave to listen to you." And then it becomes "you're embarrassing me"and "you're just old." And then it branches out: "I know I'm 14, but he's just 21" and "That computer must have SLI,or how else am I going to do homework?" After that its: "dad, I need $400 for jeans" (like wtf) and "we're just going to dinner and the movies, but give me $500 just in case" (major wtf). It goes on and on. The ultimate is: "dad, that car is not cool. Its not a BMW, and Johnny has the V8 M3" :p:

Hey Bianco,

Haven't heard from you in a while, is the new baby boy taking all your free time? :D

Well I'm writing to ask where did you buy these Microcool Core Protetors, I need them for my new board but it's been 1 month that I lurk around USA for them and can't seam to find them back in stock.

I emailed Microcool couple of weeks ago but looks like they are dead, no response.

Thanks a bunch!

the microcool chip rubbers are for the chipsets. i put it on the microchip area before i mount the waterblock on the motherboard's northbridge and southbridge. prevents the accidental chipping of the chips from uneven pressure from the heatsink/waterblock above it.

hi Jor3lBR. yeah, haven't been able to do much... just planning and dreaming of the system revision. :P

i haven't seen them stocked in sidewinders too. i did some search other online shops and couldn't find any or similar chip protector.

how did you find the thickness of the powdercoat? And how did you stop it from going in the screw threads?

I just got my case powdercoated while I was getting my rims done. Its a metallic color with clear. The parts all fit really tightly because of the thickness of the paint. Did you have this issue?

no issue with mine vinister. the coat was of manageable thickness. the screw threads were still fine and easy to screw stuff together. i didn't do any preventive measure though... but i read somewhere that you can put in screws (that you can spare) on the holes when you send for powdercoating so that the paint won't go in the threads.

Nice powdercoating man, looks like they did a good job.
