Was curious if anyone tried this? My ocz 700 is the loudest thing in my system at the moment.

You can exchange the fan on your PSU. Did it by a friend and it seems to work fine.

what the hell is that supposed to be?

I wouldn't get my hopes up for this thing too much. A little bit of foam on a "muffler" would barely put a dent in a noisy PSU. The foam would likely have minimal effect on the outlet noise, do nothing to stop vibration transmitted into the case, and nothing for the noise transmitted back into the case.

If your PSU is noisy, get a quieter one. If your quiet PSU is still too noisy, use two of them. :D

A PC suppressor!

Doesn´t quite look as neat as these:

Coming from a country that's not as lenient as the US regarding gun control I probably shouldn't think this but Damn those look cool :D

Just buy a nice Corsair psu with a 120mm or 140mm fan. Really quiet in my opinion.

Noise mainly comes from the fan, exiting by the exhaust
using this is like wearing woolly long pants in winter but with a large hole in the crotch area lol

What in the hell is that thing?

The only problem I've ever had with PSU's is coil whine thanks to NV cards.

Well, the US isn't as lenient as you might think. Suppressors are not legal, like Fully automatic pistols/rifles, unless you have permit. And judging by the guy in the photo hiding his face I'd say he doesn't have one.

It is a very nice collection though.
:D

Correction, I believe you can own a suppressor, but depends on the State?

The only muzzles I know within the context of XS are these. I know that Movieman is trying to slip these on me :ROTF:

Those guns are... sexy and scary all at once!

As for the OP, i know your pain. I had a CM 650W PSU with the fan stuck at 100%. It wasn't pleasant to listen to.
Replace the fan with something quieter or get a Corsair PSU

At first I thought the thing in the OP was some sort of sound proofing case you put the PSU in and I wondered how it was supposed to keep cool (and so reduce noise) inside such a thing. I really don't see the point of sticking a foam box on your fan though.

Yeah, that thing doesn't look like it will be worth it's money. Corsair and Enermax make very quiet PSUs.
Swapping and decoupling the fan in your existing PSU could do the trick as well, just make sure you don't kill yourself poking around in the PSU.

Tip of the day: Unplug the PSU before attempting a PSU mod.:rofl::rofl:

Japan's Soldam offering.

They won't fit other cases unless modded though you guys can probably come up with something similar and manufacture it in the US. :)

To posses a fully automatic weapon or suppressor you must first acquire a Class III gun license. All that is involved is a lengthly class followed by a 30day waiting period. Also, you must pay $1,500 for the license and a fee of e $250 for each class III weapon you own. Also, the ATF can (and will) know on your door and say they following:
Mr. "insert name here',
Our records indicate that you own the following class III weapons. Please show me to your gun storage unit so that I can see that all the weapons are properly secured and accounted for.

They do not announce when they are coming so DO NOT lend a gun to a friend. Many people do not own these weapons because they are VERY expensive. Just look up the price of a used H&K MP5 or MP7 and you will know what I am talking about. A suppressor is cool but it doesn't silence the gun like in movies. It just makes it sound like something else.

Side Note: If anyone ever breaks into my house they will have a much harder time getting out than they had getting in. :D

Just a note on changing the fans in a PSU...

Be very cautious! I had a Yate loon in my OCZ GameXtreme, And it got very toasy, And was the likely cause of it's death. From now on i'll buy a quiet PSU, And im willing to pay the 20/50/100 dollar premium. I dont want to risk another catastrophic loss (if my HDD's had been affected, I'd have lost over 500GB is movies and shows, half of which i ripped one by one, disk by disk).

I swapped the fan on my Corsair VX550 to a Scythe Slipstream. When swapping the fan, make sure you buy one with a very low starting voltage. I suspect the Yate Loon mentioned above does not spin at the voltages which a PSU gives out for the fan, around 3 Volts and sometimes even under.

The Slipstream 1600 rpm version was recommended by silentpcreview.com and I agree, it's impossible to hear under the aforementioned voltages.

If someone breaks into my house, getting out will be very easy for them. They won't have to expend any energy at all. The coroner will be carrying them out.

I will give them what I call a "50 caliber funeral". I won't care about a supressor either because they'll never hear the shot. I'm not interested in quieting my guns, becasue I'll never do anything illegal with them.

For the person who is ever stupid enough to break into my house not even God will be able to help them.

That PSU silencer most likely work and its main objective will be to make your case look ugly.
You have 2 options. Switch the fan or use a watercooled PSU. What's wrong with the Koolance offering?
