Hello,
I have managed to get a 460 FSB out of my QX6850 but its not 100% stable. 400 FSB x 9 is rock solid with great temps Im happy but you know the score  So i Know its time to start playing with the GTL's but need some help with GTL settings for this chip. The QX9650 settings + 10, +5, +10, +10 dont seem to work.
Any suggestions ?

Well the GTL settings vary across different processes so 45nm QX9650 and 65nm QX6850 are different. They should definitely be higher, I would try +12 +7 +12 +12, if that's not successful then try increasing to +13 +8 +13 +13, you might need to go as high as +20 +15 +20 +20. That should equal nearly 0.7x.

Remember to not only rely on the GTL's to get stability though, if there is a problem elsewhere holding you back you can tweak GTL's for eternity without getting anywhere (believe me i've been that fool!) and 460fsb might be really hard to get 100% stable on a quad. Benching should be no problem, though.

Let us know how it goes :)

I have tried upto +15, +7, +15, +15 & it definately helps. 3.8Ghz was prime95 stable but failed Intel burntest I will try the +20's like you suggest, I feel like a major break through is on the horizon. I managed to boot into Vista @ 4.17GHZ today which you just cant do with a Quad without upping VTT & GTL. I have new Ram due this week so no point going all out till thats fitted, I will just keep soaking up advice for then, thanks:up:

Just remember to keep core 2 5 steps below the others, so you'd want +15 +10 +15 +15 rather than +15 +7 +15 +15.

I wouldn't pay much attention to IntelBurnTest, if you're prime stable. I've had 2 settings that were 12mb cache prime blend stable for 24hr+ and they didn't pass the Burn test program, so i never bothered with it after that. It's up to you, of course :)

What new memory are you going to play with?

I have my 3.6 overclock saved in OC GEAR and everytime i go back to it after giving up on a higher OC, I run Intel BT & prime and its solid which is really good bacause when i had my Q9450 it would never do the same OC twice.

I ordered a 4GB kit of OCZ Reaper 1333 after speaking to Tony a few times. He has had them running alot higher than 1333, Im thinking of running them at 1600 Mhz. I saw a shop in coventry had them for £134:shocked: so my local shop agreed to price match after talking to OCZ , that was three weeks ago and TBO i wanted to pull out on the deal last week when i saw Overclockers had Cellshock 2GB blues for £130 but i havent had much luck running for sticks in the past.
Thanks for posting that link to the Intel QX9650 review, Very Good reading

Yeah it's a useful review for anyone overclocking really, that and the blackops review of theirs has alot of good info.

I actually have the 2x2gb kit they used in their review ( http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.aspx?i=3366&p=7 great kit by the way, have seen it as low as £120 since ) and Raja comments that you won't see much stability difference from 2x1gb compared to 2x2gb, at up to 1800mhz so i'd definitely go with 4gb considering some of the prices at the moment :)

Still no new RAM:down:
I have been playing with the best Overclock with stock volts this week & have managed 3.33 which im well impressed with . All my temps are down real Low. CPU = 26c-29c in Aegis 31c in Real temp, NB 34c, Its 12 prime95 stable. 10 pass Burn test . This will be my new 24/7 i think:up:
