OK, So I am planning on starting my build soon and I need some advice on fittings and tubing size. I plan on using compression fittings in all places. However I am aware that the 1/2" ID 3/4" OD compression fittings are BIG. Is there a big difference in 3/8" and 1/2" tubing?

the difference is not really big, have a look here where Cathar did some tests, linky (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=147767), personally I'm happy with 3/8 tubing.

1/2".....FTW

BTW.. BP Comps (1/2 x 3/4) are MAN SIZE fittings...

Will They fit side by side on a Dtek FuZion V2?

I find that 3/8" ID tubing is easier to work with and it hardly affects performance at all. 1/2" ID tubing is fine too, but a bit bulkier. I don't really think it matters too much, just use what you like. 3/8" compression fittings are definitely easier to fit on more blocks.

My favorite, and quite a few other people's, is 7/16" masterkleer on 1/2" barbs. That way you don't need hose clamps. It is dirt cheap too.

I am using the 7/16" over 1/2" barbs too using Tygon tubing in my lower (2nd). loop (ie just built a combination loop box/stand to house the 2nd reservoir, pump and rad). I have 3/8" tubing in the 1st loop in the case. I found I can get as tight a bends with the 7/16", but with tube coils in place. From working with both I think if I had limited space, I would use the 3/8" and its ability to bend tighter without coils or even tighter with coils. Just my thoughts. (ps I use clamps even on the 7/16" over the 1/2" barbs just to make sure).

Been using 3/8" for years with zero performance problems. You have a better chance of a bad mount causing temperature problems than using 3/8" compared to 1/2".

3/8" tubing fan here as well (but only the 1/8" thick walled ones).

I'm currently using 7/16in over 1/2in barbs, and it's foolproof. I plan on going 3/8in ID 1/2in OD in my work-in-progress.

You should be careful with your advice

3/8 x 1/2 Bitspower compression fittings do fit

3/8 x 5/8 Bitspower compression fittings DO NOT

Well Hopefully since the Core i7 socket is much bigger there will be more room on the CPU block for 1/2"ID 3/4"OD bitspower fittings

About the idea of using 7/16 on 1/2" barbs. This is actually what I am currently using but I want to use all compression fittings for looks

7/16" over 1/2"...

Tighter fit
Immeasurable difference to 1/2"
