Well it was a stupid on my part. I just hooked up my 1st water loop ever to it, had the board running Boinc just fine, didnt like the placement of my fan that I had on my ram, went to go move it, grabbed the fan & freakn jerked it, knocking the NB & the rig froze. :(

I did get it to boot, but it froze instantly when I clicked on an icon, Im going to give it one more go & see if I can get it to crunch, but the gut is telln me its NFG.

So is it dead? Depending on which corner you knocked off, it might still be working.
My mother's Pentium M for example has a whole corner missing, but it has run great for years now regardless :)

There's a piece broken off? I don't see it. =/

 Oh No's! What kind of board was that on? And Main PC or cruncher?

On the 1st pic, lower right hand corner.

THis is on a p5b-d, was a cruncher, but it was my favorite board, highest on air i had it was 583fsb. Im going to give it a go here in a bit. I did get it to boot b4 I took it apart, but it froze as soon as I did anything. I did use as5 for the tim, so im hoping that it was causing som issues. Going to put ceramiq & try.

Looks bad. Sorry to see that. I've destroyed some hardware by my own stupidity or clumsiness before and it really bites.

Busted the edge off. Unfortunate.

You've got a bunch of crud between the sms components on the right hand side there as well. You could easy have some capacitive coupling going on there.

I'd be a mess if I borked something like that though. Heartbreaking it is. :(

We have all done dumb things like that.

Hell I started up my EVGA 680i knowing full well it was covered in water. Ya that was retarded, but atleast I am not using a 680i anymore.

So have I. I guess almost all of us have at one time or another.

That's my feelings about a 680i I used to have too! I never did like that motherboard for some reason. (Probably because I'm more comfortable with Intel boards....)

It's ALIVE

I cleaned it up really good, redid the tim & its crunchn now at stock(e8400).:up:

Going to see if it will do 4.185 again.

Glad to see it's going again. I had an A64 3500 with the ihs off that all 4 corners were nicked, plus crack across the core, and that thing still ran 2.8ghz.

Glad to see it survived. I'm guessing MCW30 on the NB? In my experience they are really easy to knock off especially with hook mounting.

Yay. Doncha love that?

When I was inserting my LCed graphics card in the ST I heard a distinct snap.Thought nothing of it. Later when I was tipping the case around a capacitor comes sliding across the floor of the case. Pulled thecard and sure enough right where the molex power is on the motherboard the stupid molex connector had bound up on the capacitor of the lower card and snapped it off. Still pulls 23K in 3D06 though and Folds great. I guess I didn't need that one cap anyway :D

Glad it worked out man. That's pretty heartbreaking.

Oooh ya, crunchn now @ 4.115 :D

Im a happy camper!! I wish I would have gone water sooner. @ full load it only his 41c

Now I need to take the TRUE off the quad put it on the p5b-d & wolfie, then do up the max formula. Maybe next week though.

Hey nfm!!! Your right, this board is a tank I think..lol..:)

That q6600 would be good for about 14-15k a day. Get it on the grid :yepp:

@ Skinnee...Ya man, I will be adding to this loop for sure!!!

I was gonna say, that doesn't look too bad, I've knocked an entire edge off a CPU core before, man that thing got beat up. Still works tho :D

Glad it is working

I'll bet what happened was AS5 doesn't bother it, but the chip allowed it to get closer to the circuitry inside (like real close) and the slight capacitive nature of it was causing your troubles.

Yup Sparky, was thinking along those line too.
