I just finished watercooling loop and when I activate the pump (laing ddc ultra from swiftech) the leds start to flicker. To check I put the pump on a different line from the leds and situation is the same.

PSU is 1000W Darkpower from Be Quiet! Is pretty nice PSU so doubt it is a PSU problem...

I wonder if anyone knows the answer.

Thanks for the help!

Have you tried it with the pump disconected? It may not be the pump.....

it is only when the pump is connected that the lights start flickering. The fan speed monitor also shows then a drop of +- 100rpm in my fan speed the moment the pump is connected.

Can it be a problem with the PSU?

perhaps because I bypassed the MB to test the pump before turning on entire system?

Seems there is a shortage of power.. with a 1000W PSU I doubt some fans, leds and a pump will consume too much :(

It could be the PSU, but unlikely. More like the pump is faulty and drawing too much current....

Is there any vibration? Could be loose connection somewhere...

great, then I have to remove all the water again...

but thanks for the help

You said you bypassed the mobo... what all is plugged into the PSU? If you only have things that use 12V (fans, pump) then that can be your issue there, crossloading the PSU too much. Causes a drop in the 12V voltage. Try hooking up a HD or two and see if that helps.
