Hey there,

I'm new to vmodding (I've overclocked for over a year, I just haven't had the courage to vmod). Anyway, I've decided to go for it, and I've got a few questions.

1) Does the k rating (10k, 20k) affect the actual amount of voltage that goes through, or is it just an increment type of thing? (20k is twice as "fine tunable" as 10k, etc) What, exactly, does the K refer to?

2) Would this:
http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=CTLG&category%5Fname=CTLG%5F011%5F002%5F011%5F000&product%5Fid=271%2D343
work for (a) A 9800 Pro vdimm mod (b) a 9800 Pro vgpu mod (c) an NF7-S (rev 2) vdimm mod (d) an NF7-S vdd mod?

Thanks!
Mike

k stands for 1000, if you have a 10k it's 10,000 ohms, thats all it means. The higher the number of the resister, the worse the fine tuning is.

1: Depends on which way you have to adjust the pot, there are mods that need more resistance to increase voltage, while others need less resistance.

2: A, B (add a 2K fixed inline), dont know about C or D.

The value of the VR also varies depending on what circuit and circuit design you're working with.

A mod could take a 1k, a 10k or a 20k VR. Don't just add variable resistors without some guidance or knowledge of what you're doing. Otherwise you could end up letting out the magic blue smoke ;)

(Edit) lol, Stevil beat me to it!

I would have beat macci if I hadn't been distracted by repairing a car speaker amplifier.. hehe.
