Well I've been looking through the xtreme mobile forum for a few days just reading around looking for information but it doesn't seem that there is one place here where we can all talk laptop upgrades in our laptops. To me the laptop scene is new and my interest has been peaked in possible future upgrades for different parts.
So my idea is simple, this thread can be a compilation thread for what motherboard you have and possible upgrades for both CPU and graphics (memory and hard drives are simple enough, not forgetting dvd drives).
I am by no means fully versed in laptop technology but if we work together we can work out what goes where and what can be upgraded.
I'll do my best to start:
My Laptop: Toshiba Qosmio F50-10Z
Laptop Motherboard: Intel PM45 (http://www.intel.com/Products/Notebook/Chipsets/PM45/PM45-overview.htm)
Laptop Processor: P8400
Maximum CPU Upgrade: Core 2 Extreme QX9300
Graphics Processor: Nvidia 9600M GT
Maximum GPU Upgrade: Not to sure on this aspect but I have heard MXM Type II mentioned about this GPU so it may be upgradeable to a better type II graphics card at some point
If I've missed anything please let me know
