I'm currently at 680/2150 (yes, I reduced the clocks slightly), and I'm getting ~96*C load under Team Fortress 2 according to GPU-Z. This is with the fan fixed at 65%.

(System specs in sig below)

This IS the first time I've EVER played TF2 (Free Weekend), but I get ~same temps playing GRID now.
Settings: 1920x1200 8xAA, 16xAF, Highest Details

Is this something to worry about? (Hitting 96*C at load, TF2) I don't remember my temps being this high a month ago. In reaction to seeing these temps, I vacuumed out my Antec 900 to get rid of the dust, but I did not vacuum the card, because I did not see much dust on it.

since the "stock temperature" seems to be 80°C mere 15°+ won't kill your card ;)

once gpus were rated for up to 120°C i think that has changed with smaller transistors...

unless you want to keep this card for a lot of years, just let it bur...eeehm...be :D

i had the same issue with my XFX 8800GT...after hours of playing it even reached 100C...this happened gradually since i made fan settings on rivatuner some months ago...

i used a better tim compound on the core to bring temps down but they still are high. (at first at idle they were about 65 and now they are about 80)
my guess would be that increasing fan speeds degrades the fan.im not sure why that would happen but i cant think of another reason)

anyway in my case it happened over a couple of months time..the 4850 is rather new so..have your ambient temps gonna up a lot lately?
