Hey everyone, if you set up a harddrive at like a 2-3 degree tilted incline (don't ask :) ) will it have any impact on the lifespan of the hdd? I already know the answer but my idiot friend here wants comfort in numbers to this answer so if ne one could help alleviate his false sense of anxiety before he has to go on meds that would be great. Thanks in advance

it might lower it, it might not, so long as u dont have it getting hit or rattling it will be fine

No difference what so ever.

Think about laptop coolers, they are usually at a 10-15 degree angle.

I've mounted HD's on there side before, some cases have mounts for this way.

Also, my laptop sits on an overbed table that I adjust the tilt from horizontal to almost 45 degrees at times ... no worries.

Think about it ... I'm in the Northern Hemisphere, but you never hear of people in Australia having problems with their HD's and they are upside down :)

PS: that last bit was a joke, also just remembered ... I run a little server PC with 2 HD's in it that stand on end, their IDE and power end being at the top, and yes that's the way its case was designed.
