Sweet! I love a thread with good pics! This one looks like it'll be killer, I'll stay informed. 20 month old? Talk to me about it, my boy is 18mos and I have no time for modding (hence the 7mo old thread LOL). Let's see what the new pappa's can do!

Everything looks awesome except that Enzotech sink won't fit your Rampage southbridge. Holes don't line up :(

I like the EK northbridge, great to see comp fittings fit I might have to get one myself!

i have that enzotech sink on my rampage formula and it works fine, you just have to angle the push pins in a little but works fine

Recipe looks awesome so far. Great pics - love the compression fitting "BF" :ROTF:

One thing I'd mention is that it's worth checking running temps on the southbridge with that enzotech cooler before you get everything else mounted. In my last build I found that I needed active cooling after mounting everything. It was a pain in the rear to swap for the active-cooling model (Enzotech SLF-1) - wish I'd tested that out first! Of course your SB might just run cooler or if you have another fan blowing near it, it'll be fine, but it's worth checking.

Keep the build going..

nice build mate, looking foward to seeing how your horizontal mounting turns out. Reading your pm (bit of a forum noob :P took me a while to figure it out) i unfortunately do not have the CAD file for my backplate. It's easy enough to work out though. Measure the mobo backplate cutout and the hole locations, and draw it out. If you need a cad program, google sketchup will do! just make sure the laser cutters / machine shop accepts the format.

FYI, if you attatch the mobo to the drive bay columns like virtual rain or me, it is sturdy enough to not need supports. Also, when cutting out the existing back panel and metal work, i would reccomend using a nibbler or dremel as a hacksaw or jigsaw can catch the aluminium and buckle the case (see my build log).

Any other questions let me know.

Does this have standard 5.75" mounting holes (like your typical optical drive), or holes specific to LiLi cases?

Extigy

Lian Li drive bays are slightly oversized. they might fit standard bays, but will be very tight,

SNiiPE_DoGG
09-07-2008, 04:13 PM
you really should check the triple rad mount you've drawn with the spec sheet from HWlabs, in my experience with swiftech rads the ACryan radgrillz are not correctly drilled to the right spacing and sometimes need heavy modding to fit the rad hole spacing to the radgrill spacing

BlackFlag

SNiiPE_DoGG
09-07-2008, 04:20 PM
Yeah, I thought about that. It should be okay. In the past I've used BIX rads and AC Ryan grills with good success. If anything all it would require is an enlarged hole on the grill.

i have a feeling HWlabs is a bit more stringent in the QC and accurate to their manufacturing standards than swiftech, Ive had swiftech mcr320's that don't actually lie flat against the case and one of the 220's i had had such messed up fan spacing that it didn't even fit a standard 120mm fan with the screws straight

Lian Li drive bays are slightly oversized. they might fit standard bays, but will be very tight,

This explains why the alphacool bay resevoirs don't fully cover the hole.

Very nice build mate. I admire your patience for sleeving. I never realised there was non fray braiding, would of made sleeving my stuff SOOO much easier! I also feel your pain with the dremel, they are utter crap nower days. I brought a 2nd hand air powered nibbler off ebay and that rips through sheets of metal very accurately and leaves few burrs.

I must admit, like you said, the 343b is actually very small in the horizontal configuration!

One question: what size wire did you use for splicing/extending your wires?

Nice job, keep it up!

did u ever consider maybe getting your L-shaped cable duct tig welded together. Depending on the look you are going for it would provide a very smooth surface after grinding and polishing. It could then get powdercoated and would appear to be a one-piece unit. Just a suggestion...

The build is looking good. I like the way you used my bracket to mount the pump to the aluminum. When your all finished I want a pic for website. I like the idea of using the aluminum channel to hide the wires, it's definitely something I would consider when I go to a bigger case. I find these cables to be completely phucked.
Because your drives are going to be different distances from the raid card, you will have lots of slack that you can't really do anything with, pic:

I have always found that the raid cable issue is best solved by putting the slack between the two drives you cant see the sides of the drives anyhow and it makes the cable one long nice neat cable all the way up to the drives, if you dont know what I'm talking about let me know and ill draw something.

Hey, amazing build so far. *subscribed*

BTW, hope you don't mind, but I found the idea of soldering triple rad fans to one wire so exciting - I kind of stole it from you. :D
Makes things much easier as my 3/4" tubing was nearly too much for those pre-drilled Lan Li tubing holes. 2 sleeved wires are better than four (that also have to fit hat holes), I would say. ;)
