The first one is one of your best pictures ever? It's all shaken and blurry- That´s the point, in high resulotion as desktop BG it´s very comfortable for the eyes instead of a totally clear BG. It´s looks really great in high resulotion.

Then the picture isn´t all, for me those got a story to tell, those is my best, not yours :P

That first one is fantastic :up:

Did you add the blur effect? It's great how the whole picture has different levels of focus yet no part is 100% clear, and despite that the center really stands out.

I took the picture in like 10/1s and that´s the reason of the blurry.

Thats almost a kind of creepy picture... abandonded house with no other houses around it in an abandoned feiled... ever tried breaking into it? I would see whats inside it, maybe a computer from 1970 you can overclock and start crunching on it.

Seriously though I would look inside (Time for disclaimer: I kraifect, in no way shape or form force you to go into that house putting your life at risk. Enter that house at your own risk, nothing done to you or by you can be held against me in the court of law. All done :D ) just be very careful and make sure no one lives there first, you never know bums might be living inside there and you could get hurt. If you ever do seriously go in there take pictures though and bring a friend for backup.

I haven't taken many, but I want to participate, so here's me this morning trying out manual mode on my SX110 IS for the first time (well, not the FIRST time, but the first time after I tried to learn what the settings mean):

ISO80, 10x zoom, F3.5 (or 4.8) I think, on a tripod
resized in Paint (I know)

Was trying to get the 'blurry background' look while getting really close to something. The flowers are under 1" tall.

Both an 'Auto' I think... they just turned out pretty good and are funny. She tries to see through the window which is covered in foil, and I like how the reflection of her eyes turned out in it.
I think I had the flash on for both, I try to avoid using it, but the ones without flash were either dark or noisy.

Andrew, first pic is great imo, second pic is "distracting" what i mean by that is it isn't really clear on what you were trying to shoot and to much is "going on" in the pic.

The cat shots are decent, the bottom ones I would have shot in P mode and centered the focus on the cats ear top, and the cats eye bottom.

I use a P@S strictly, if you get the right camera you can do alot. I have a A720is, out of the box it's a great macro P&S with the 58mm lens kit and converters it does everything awsome.

Thats why i recomended P mode, P mode is a great way to learn the functions of the camera and get great shots before you go full manual. It's also great for moving subjects. I shoot almost all my saltwater tank shots in P mode like this shot for instance. This fish is moving and the shot would have been perfect had I not blown away the sand. Note that I focused on the eye.

Right, but so does Auto, right? What I did is set the autofocus on the cat's face, then moved the frame to capture her. It all happened very fast, but now I know what you mean, to put the eye in the center.

Try a couple shots in auto and then try in P mode and play with ISO, I think you will be much happier with results. You will find in P mode that you can actually "stop" or capture a moving subject.

Just get a cable release (or remote) and hold down the shutter with SS set at 15 seconds and you will capture lighting garunteed.

Yea its quite easy if you ask me. Just examine where the most lightning is strucking, point the camera towards it and keep clicking. You will end up with dozens of lightning pics. The most irritating things is the processing time of the images after I take very long exposure shots.

from the floods of 2008 in cedar rapids, IA
this is downtown cedar rapids, driving down the highway on an overpass where the water is not far from reaching the highway.
used a panasonic lumix FZ5 point and shoot 5mp then some HDR work.
wished i had the camera more straight up and down and could have stopped and taken good pictures.
