View Full Version : Is there a homemade fix for freezing?

My Xbox360 has started freezing independantly of whether or not my HD is attached. I put it in a cool place, run it with a bigass fan blowing on it but still happens. Sometimes during startup of xbox sometimes 5 minutes into games.
I'm not opposed to opening it up and try to do my own fix but I don't know what to look for.
This box was bought in 2006 so warranty doesn't apply to me :( bastards

The freezing has been a precursor to an eventual red ring failure in my experience. Take it out of a cool place, take off the fans, and just keep trying to play it. Eventually, it will RROD on you. Just leave it on when it freezes if you have to.

they have a 3 year warranty now dont they, i thought MS extended it

call them up adn get a replacement with the 65nm/90nm chips, instead of teh 90/130nm that u probly have

yeah the newer models still rrod but hey they are newer models and not as many have failed as the old models.

On red rings, yes. He has yet to get a red ring though. It just freezes up. He needs to get it to red ring first.

just RMA it,
if its not RROD just throw a blanket over it and kill it.
then RMA it......
