Well now, 2 weeks till I leave my home in cold New York for sunny Florida. So, I'm requesting a bit of advice on what to get. I'm flying there, and I decided that my desktop tower is going to be my second check-bag. However, this means I have to leave behind my keyboard, mouse, speakers, and monitor. Not a big problem though--my decade+ old Altec Lansing speakers, my decade+ old ViewSonic monitor, and my ~5 year old keyboard and mouse are all well due for a replacement. Well, the keyboard/mouse combo I had I like, but I can't take it with me until about 3 months after I go down.

So, what should I get? Budget for the monitor is $250 tops (I'd prefer to spend $200--that way I can hopefully afford a new graphics card too). I have been looking at Acer LCDs--there's a 19" (1680x1050) for $180 at the Egg and there's also a 22" for $200. Anything else worth considering?

For speakers, I was thinking of a Logitech X-240 set for $36. Nothing that loud needed--so I'd prefer a crisp setup at lower volumes.

I went a bit overboard with keyboard/mouse... I am thinking of the new Logitech G15 keyboard and a G5 mouse (since I can't seem to find a G3 mouse anymore--I prefer the G3 to the G5). Runs a high bill ($90 for the keyboard, $50 for the mouse) but they ought to last a good long time.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Mainly for where to find a G3 mouse, another monitor to look at, or a better set of speakers. Try to keep it under $400 total please--it's not my dime... yet.

EDIT: Changed title and anyone know a good headset? I would prefer to have it work with speakers if at all possible--in that I can hear people over VoIP without hearing the game through the headset. Stereo too, please.

I'd say the 22" acer for $200 would be the best deal.

The g5 is currently $35 on newegg (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826104076). I have the g5 and I've had it for over a year and it still looks brand new. Great mouse for gaming, and the forward/back button are very convienent for browsing the internet. I would definitely recommend the G5.

Sry not quite sure what your askin here. You want to hear VoIP through the headset and the game through the speakers at the same time? My speakers(z-2300) are automatically muted when I plug my headset into them. So I can only use one or the other.
There are probably better headsets out there, but I would recommend this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826158051) one. They are very comfortable and the mic is crystal clear and although the sound quality is decent, it's not as good as my speakers.

I looked at that headset yesterday. Anyways--my sound automatically muting no longer works, since I changed chassis and had to change from HD-Audio to AC97 audio for front-panel. I'll look around... anyone else willing to make suggestions?

Anyone? I'm still looking. I'm considering dropping my Circuit City and grabbing a G3 mouse, instead of waiting to order it online. It'd come out cheaper online, but the G3 is my favorite (I think...).
