My sisters moving into her own place soon and she needs a laptop, i said id go half with her for a £400 ($742) lappy so im looking for the best 1 at that price

All she is going to be using it for is emails, facebook, storing music and pictures, sorting out her ipod ect.

go into the small/home business section and get a Vostro if looking at dells ALOT better specs for the prices imo

Mate check at online deals as there are coupons that will make it much cheaper. Just asking : is the '' small '' cache gonna affect performance?

Yes, if you include the standard, almost always available 10% off coupon, you can get a better CPU instead.

what ever you do DO NOT GET A CELERON!!! period.. celeron laptops are crap,, period, i dont care if its the new or old cely,, they are crap...
($684) is HORRIBLE you can get atleast a 2ghz core2 duo for that price....

I just ordered the same but with the T57## something cpu.
And the 250gb hdd for 647 bucks.

Check out some of the business class laptops like the Vostros pretty cheap yet rock solid.

too late i ordered a 1525 :( missed out on the coupen chance there damn. I would of picked the vostros myself but she wanted the pink one. Thanks for your help

The cooling fan on those Inspiron 1525s are kind of loud.

wow those vostros are sweet..... really affordable for the hardware too!

If i had a grand laying around thats what i would get for sure.
