I saw this lizard stalking/hunting down a bug on my patio screen today.. so grabbed my little canon a520 and grabbed a pic right after he got his meal...

that's a big meal for a little lizard. ROFL.. He almost bit off more than he can chew!

I was in such a hurry, I just flipped it to auto and took it.. even then I almost missed it... so I'm not sure what auto did to the settings. my manual settings were still setup for that hummingbird shot I've been waiting on, if they'll ever come back... so I didn't have time to play around, I just flipped it to auto and took it.... there was some white noise in the pic, but I auto contrasted it out with gimp filter to pull it out... you can still a little of the white noise in the upper left. but at least it got a good focus on the lizard's head, I only had a second or so to snap it before he freaked out and ran off with what must have been a helluva catch for him. that bug was huge...

he's probably hanging out with his lizard friends right now, telling his story of how he bagged the lunker of the season.. with maybe a few exaggerations here and there about how he fought off and eluded the giant who tried to chase him down with a strange weapon that shoots flashes of light... rofl!

Of course ! which is why I said great shot !

I am a very impatient photography, I hardly wait around for shots like this. I'll sit there for a minute and if nothing happens I'll move on !

that is the full size res for my little 4 mega pixel canon a520... it's just the center crop... here's the orig http://scootplace.net/canon/IMG_0323.JPG , I actually took it as he came down from the ceiling, but rotated the OP pic so it was easier to post.. I was using zoom freehand, so my main goal was to keep his head center screen for a good focus.. which I actually thought had failed at the time, everything was moving around so much, but I got lucky..

OH, btw.. he's back on the prowl again today.... I think he lives in a potted tree on my screened patio, beacuse he's always on the screen next to that tree at various times of the day... and when he runs away, he runs and jumps from the screen to into that ficus in the corner of the patio... actually it's probably an ideal pad for him; protected from the weather and the patio door stays open all day for my dogs... so it's a perfect bug trap catching bugs that fly in and cant figure how to find the door to get back out... at night I have to shut the door, otherwise mosquitos come in, but it stays open during the day.. so as long as he's disciplined enough not to stay out partying after dark, then he's got probably got a sweet deal from a lizard's perspective... except for the cats and dogs, but as long as he stays high up in the tree or screen then it's a helluva bachelor pad I guess..
