DangerDen compression fittings too fat?

So I just got most of the watercooling parts I ordered in the mail and am frustrated with the dangerden compression fittings I ordered. Has anyone had some experience with these oversized fittings? They obviously fit my rad and res/pump, but both my d-tek fuzion v2 and mcw60 blocks cannot fit these horribly fat fittings. Basically what happens is they will unscrew one another as they are so wide and/or get stuck. On the mcw60 they even scratched up the shiny plating underneath. I hope there is something I am missing here because I can't understand how a company could design something that wont fit the most popular blocks.

This is grounds for a refund no?

Anyone got any info?

Welcome to the world of compression fittings. There is nothing wrong with the barbs themselves, they just don't fit a lot of blocks out there. Your only solution is going to be buying a different block with a wider space between the in/outlets or get smaller compression fittings. I can't tell what sized tubing you are using in the pics, but I can tell you that the Koolance 3/8ID 1/2OD fit perfectly fine.

This is not ground for a refund, you should have done some research yourself. You can recover the losses yourself by reselling it since a lot will want to buy them.

Every time I unscrew those fittings from a block I usually drop them because they are so freaking heavy and I don't expect it.

Well I did a lot of research and posted my list here many times. All of the stuff I read on the fittings focused on matching tubing sizes and I never once read about the compression fittings being to big for the blocks themselves. Guess I just got unlucky.

I think I might be able to squeeze them on the mcw60. Without using too much force, the pics show how far I got the fittings on. Notice the small gap, is this normal or just them not fitting?

As for the dtek I guess I can use the fittings that came with it right? Don't see how mixing the fittings matters. And the compressions definitely wont be fitting.

Man, what a great opportunity for you! You get to mod them yourself! All it takes is a file and about 2 hours to make them a bit smaller in outside diameter. Or to a local machine shop and a case of beer or two and ask them to take off 60/1000 on the outside or so. The wall thickness should be able to handle it. Should work great and you can post that you are an xtreme modder.

Really. Anyway, it does suck. Wish many peeps knew that stuff don't fit all the time. Hell, even getting screw clamps on a Fuzion with 3/4 OD hose was a surprise, but I worked it out. Like when I got my 120.3 rad and looked at my Antec 900 case. LOL, oops. Well it's all layed out on a piece of wood now, nekkid PC, easy to work on at least. My son got a new case for his air-cooled rig. He still LANS, I don't.

I'm hooked up with a new supplier who will make any fitting and it will fit anything. He's having trouble finding the metal to make them to, it's like magic to work with. He say's it's 'Unobtanium', he hasn't got any yet,, I still wait for results, he's so full of poop.

Actually that's a good idea. Ill try shaving them down tonight. Unfortunatly, it looks like the mcw60 will have problems regardless as even with regular barbs I would have to bend the mosfets on my 4850 to fit the block. With the extra size of these compression fittings I think I might be sol.

Oops, I mean ramsinks. Two of them are right in front of where the barbs screw in on the 4850.

Thats normal.

You have to do that with most core only blocks.

I'm sorry but you are better off with normal barbs instead of that shaved fitting - just looks like ass IMHO. The best bet would have been to return the 3/8" x 5/8" in favor of 3/8" x 1/2" as they fit the blocks you have just fine.

Are you guys serious? Feels like in your mind, everything has to be stock to look good. I would say, shave of all your fittings in the same way, sand them down with some fine wet sanding like 800. Then polish them up and I think they will look really sleek! The tightening ring is WAY to thick imo. Koolance has some nice proportional comp fittings though.

Lol, the pitfalls of living with your girlfriend. If you think a pink ipod laying around is bad then you should see what she did to my bathroom...:down:

I am going to pick up some 600-1000 grit today as I have to lap my blocks anyways. Hopefully I can get the fitting slightly slimmer for an easier fit, just gotta watch out because the piece that screws down over the tubing is somewhat thin.

I sanded down the other barb so at least those two look the same. Still gotta get some high grit paper to polish. Nothing spectacular but its better then waiting a week for two new barbs.

My only concern is leak testing (not that far yet :)). I don't think the sanding by itself would cause a problem as the threading should all act the same, however, I noticed on some of the barbs the end has little chips (not just the ones I sanded). Would little chips on either end of the fitting cause problems?

Ended up having to sand two more as they wouldn't seal on the mcw60 stock.
I did end up getting some high grit sandpaper but have barely polished them because my fingers are sore. In total, took about 6 hours.

Note: If anyone tries doing this, save yourself some time+cuts and use a dremel tool or something. A metal file is just masochistic.

Looks good... Make sure you wash them extremely well, get all of the metal filings off.

They tighten fine, its loosening them that sucks. However, they really are no different then stock, they all suck getting to unscrew from a tube.

Honestly, even without having to shave these, I wish I would have saved some cash and got fat boys. I would much rather use a flat head to loosen a worm drive then get compression fittings off once they are compressed.
