...and loving it.

Just a friendly FYI; however thinks 45% fan speed isn't enough needs to work on case flow ;)

49C full load, 40C idle. 45% is still hella loud though :(

Yeah, I'm happy with mine at 35% and 54C Idle at over 31c Ambient. I tried 45% and it was a bit too loud for my liking, but when I game I have the 50% profile to rock on. :D

Holy Voltage, Batman !! Is that E8400 clock 24/7 ?!??!?!

How long would an E8400 last at that voltage? And what about 1.5-1.6v??

no kidding. i run my E8400 @ 4.0 GHz with 1.325 Vcore (1.29/1.27 idle/load actual). that's a really expensive 260 MHz if you run it at that speed daily.

I don't know why most of you complain since I need 1.5 for my E8400 at 4.2Ghz, but my temp is pretty darn good for some reason. 31 at idle and 69 at full load, is it safe for 24/7?

My E8400 needs 1.45v to work stable at 4.0Ghz speed. But i mean stable as in never crashes with anything. Its temperatures are 34 celsius idle each core and maximum i've seen with linpack running was about 54-55. If it dies, E8600 please

THe E8600 needs 1.2 - 1.25 to reach 4Ghz...but I guess that's the difference between an E0 and non-E0 chip. X_X

If you run an e8400 at 1.45v or higher it WILL degrade. It wont kill your chip instantly but you will slowly have to lower the clockspeed over time. I used to run my e8400 at 1.45 at 4.4ghz, but after about 4 months it became very unstable. Now I run it at 4.2 at 1.4v and it is rock solid. Keep em below 1.45

here's a hint...not all chips area equal. This chip NEEDS 1.45v for 4.2ghz..plain and simple.

this thread isn't about my crap 8400, it's about the 4870 and temps at 40% fan speed.

I full load at 56C. No degradation going on at all.

i didn't say you should lower your volts to be like me. i also have to crank up the volts if i want to run my CPU at 4.2. i decided it was an expensive 200 MHz and i just lowered it down to 4.0. don't get pissy.

Hmm, Mr Bungle and TOOL, now THERE'S a show I'd like to see. Caught Mr B at the House of Blues on Sunset many years ago and then finally got to see TOOL couple of years ago. Wow, those guys put on a show.

Oh wait, we're geeks, we b|tch-slap each other about voltages and stuff...

Sorrys, back on topic - hey, ur PSU blows ass. Pfft! n00b gonna smoke his transistor resistor thingy. I could mod that in my sleep and my rig runs circles around that pile of junk. So there.

apologies mate, I just canked a set of ballistix right before I posted that and it came off way too harsh.

Dude, go back under your rock. Your "on-topic" lame mini rant sounds like it's coming straight from a 14 year old CS:S player lol. If you were a true Tool fan, you wouldn't come off like a muppet ;)

I think his rant was meant to be sarcasm for us pointing out your voltages.

Either way though, there's always another rig that can run circles around the next guy's rig. I, myself, believe that the most powerful rig lies currently with an Intel Skull trail setup with two 4870X2s in Xfire. :D

It wasn't necessary. I'm a fan of sharp, witty sarcasm...it wasn't either. ;)

someone has a 4ghz Prime stable E8600 at 1.09 in the e8600 thread. There's also probably 4 or 5 people using less than 1.15 for 4ghz.
