I've used this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341011&Tpk=silencer%2b750 in the past and it's been rock solid. Now, I'm considering a 4870x2. I'm pretty sure this should be plenty of power, but I'm curious if there are better PSU's at or about the same price.

Thanks.

there is that or the corsair tx750 and they are both about the same, and corsair and pcp&p use sustained wattage raitings so u have a 825W peak rating (use that to compair to ocz, or TT)

Agreed 100%
I have 2-PCP+C610's on my dual clovers since Dec 2006 and perfect, also a PCP+C 750 on my dual harper.
A corsair 550 on my Q6600 for a year and perfect.

Yeah, but the Silencer 750 Quad is rated for 750W @ 40ºc and its very noisy, while the Corsair is 750W @ 50ºc. Maybe PCP&C is just conservative, otherwise it has less capacity after the de-rating curve.

I couldnt find this info on the product page, but according to jonnyguru's review the TX750W is rated @ 50ºc:

The difference is single rail (PC P&C) vs multi rail (corsair), both should suffice. If you have the Silencer stick with it.

Perhaps Corsair because of the 5-yr warranty.
Don't know about PC P&C warranty though.

Anybody knows how this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817703013 compares to the older Silencer 750? More watts at 50C I reckon. $240 is a chefty price tag.

corsair tx750 has a single 60amp 12v rail
