View Full Version : Prevent DDC-2 Failure By Running In Series?

I have been using the DDC-2 (orange impeller bad ass ones) pumps for a long time as I love the high pumping pressure for my multi block single loops.

As everyone knows they have a bad reputation for not starting or dying.

I currently have three of these pumps (two in use) and started to use one that was in storage for a year and never used.

I could not believe it, but I actually experienced this pump not starting from a cold boot and the CPU thermal shut down at around 85°C.

This rig is going to have two of these pumps and my question is:

Would the flow from the other pumps in series help "kick start" the other pump that has not started or that was "stuck" at start up?

Please no responses to get a D5, been there and still have one.

Might be better to check power connection on the problem pump.
i think the Problem with the red ones was they needed alot of current to start and if the pins where tired on the power plug it would stall and twitch on startup (and possibly burn up the pump if it was left in a stalled state with no water circulating)
