hi all.i have a possible fitting issue with the 1\2 id compression fittings on this res.
because of the roundness of the bottom section of the res,the base part of the fitting does not look to compress the o-ring enough-at 1st glance.
the base of the fitting also touches the lower part of the acrylic res-with pressure-that is a worry for me.
i took a dremel to one fitting and cut a little away,so it does not touch the acrylic.hopefully BP-Vincent see`s this thread and perhaps can answer if that
fitting is pushing the o-ring hard enough to seal it.
i tried stacking 2 washers together, but if anything i could get a single
thicker o-ring.
thanks for any input.

You better not use those.

your pretty much out of luck unless you get an extender

Compression fittings are incompatible with the EK res (any any normal fitting that has a widr then normal bottom diameter)

Its Oring surface is recessed, and only enough is cut away to allow a standard fitting.

You ofcourse could take the fittings and throw them onto a lathe or use some klind of male/female BSPP extender, but both just aren't worth it. Much better off using normal fittings in this case. (Unless you actually own a lathe and can do that for free with little trouble :P)

thanks for replies everyone.
looks like i will just use the comp fittings on the thermochills, the ek d5 tops, and the vidcard.

may only be able to use 1 on the Vid card as well depending on the block. Most full cover blocks on the copper side have the barb close enough to the cards circuit board that the comp fittings will hit the board.

That's a converter not an extender you got linked.

Yeah i found this out the hard way too. Opened it all up and "dang, it doesn't even fit!" Now where are those extenders at...

This will work...http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=203&products_id=23566. Will give you an extra 7mm of clearance.

just get a spacer

Not enough thread on a Bitzpower compression fitting to do that.

I fail to see why people create problems for themselves.

1/2" ID compression fittings just aren't useable, why complicate things and buy them when half the blocks etc out there end up making you buy extenders etc?

Considering Cathar has proved we lose no performance with thinner ID tubing, then why not actually use smaller compression fittings?

I use 3/8th ID 5/8th OD BitsPower fittings, I have EK reservoirs and have zero problems like this. I have no loss in temperatures either.

Would this work?

does EVERYTHING have to be in compression fitting? thems Fatboys seems to work fine... why not keep em?

No problems with 3/8" x 1/2" BP compression fittings. These fit just about anything.
