View Full Version : Water Temperature Sensors?

Evening Folks,

Seeing as my fan controller will have 4 temperature readings and I can't think of a smart way of using all 4 I was considering getting an in-line one for the water loop. I'll probably just slot it into a T-Line block just after the rad as I'll have a T-Line just before it with a drain line anyway.

I've been browsing around and most shops seem to stock these two:

However WCUK seems to be out of stock of both of them :/ Ideally I'd rather just get a G1/4" sensor and then choose the best place to put it and while looking around I came across one made by a german company: Innovatek
They do a whole range of water sensors:

However this one particularly caught my eye:

http://www.frozencpu.com/products/2201/ex-res-52/Innovatek_Fass-O-Matic_Screw-in_Temperature_Sensor_500836.html
Why? Meh, dunno really, maybe just because it was branded unlike the others :P:

Anyway, the idea is simply has anyone had any experience with water sensors and does anyone know where I can get one that doesn't include any aluminium in the UK? ^^

There are a number available. You have to be careful to note what controller/readout unit they are compatible, but the innovatek would probably be just fine. I'm assuming that you won't be particular regarding the fine-tuned accuracy, because it may be off by 1-2C, but should at least be consistent...

Ah glad to see Chilled PC have them in stock :) I might go ahead with them in the case... I hadn't heard of that site before, good to know as I can add it to the list when it comes to ordering the stuff to find the best prices :)

I have the same water temp meter as fornowagain, mounted in the front of my case like this:

I modded the top of my EK so it can hold a line to my fillport and the other hole is for the temp sensor:

The only issue I have with using a sensor in the top of the res is the fact that the res will need to be filled to the very top to get an accurate reading of water temperature. If anything I would slot it in one of the bottom threads though I'd ideally prefer to keep that for the LED barb as I'll be using UV tubing and transparent liquid so as to not have the res to be too different from the rest of the loop.

One of those sensors would fit nicely in a T-Line though and it would be in the bottom half of the case behind the rad anyway so looks aren't an issue :P

The sensor itself won't fit in a t-line, at least not mine, the thing was way to long to go in all the way.

Having the res filled up all the way to the top helped preventing air getting sucked in for me.

Ah thanks for bringing that up, I might get the one which comes with the T-line then as that is most likely to be compatible ^^

I'm going to be using a 250mm EK res with the anti cyclone insert and using the bottom of the res as out so I don't think air bubbles are going to be a problem :)
