Intel X58 launch event & AOCC included in Berlin 08/18-19

I didn't find any info about this topic, and i'm really curious who's coming, so decided to open a thread for it.
It looks like similar to me than the AOCC in Hong Kong just for Europe and without money award.

From Hungary jugeen and I will be there, and represent our country/team.

I know that Belgium, Germany and Sweden teams have LN2 pot but I'm sure that France and some teams don't have such pots. => Unfair competition since some teams will bench in aircooling and other teams under LN2. :down:

guys but think about it, still nobody tested 4870x2 on ln2 (afaik), and i don't think that any vmods will be allowed on the card(s), so if some teams could get 4 pot wich is compatible with 4870x2 and they can make all the preparation, and reaching few mhz more with much more risk in only 4 hours to bench... HF & i think they could use it without any bad sense from my side :D

Achill3uS, :), some guys already tested 4870 X2 and 4870 CF undel LN2. And when you will hardly reach 810MHz at the GPU without vmod since it will be too hot, you will be destroyed without any chance by more than 5000 points with a quad CF benching over 950MHz GPU. And the "risk" is little since 4 hours benching for one bench only is very very easy. You have time to destroy 2 Graphics cards, take 2 others GC, make 2 other insulations, vmods and others benchs impossible to reach in aircooling. It's not a contest :)

CPU will do all :) Single 4870*2 scaled from 800 to 900mhz GPU under 3dmark2006 gives +70marks, Quad core to 4ghz.

Hmm, I noticed now it says nothing about two cards. I assumed it was two 4870X2 in CFX that would be used. If it's two cards there won't be any benefit with better cooling, or perhaps even any OC at all. If it's only one card however there might be some difference.

4870x2 holes are 42 x 42, as far as i remember 3870x2 is different...

Approx 1mm more diagonal on 4870X2 then 3870X2. Without modding Tek doesnt fit (at least here).

So many bad points in this AOCC Berlin :
- some teams / people get all the informations whereas others know very few things (not equal)
- some people have time to prepare them by benching the right products on the right mainboard whereas others don't
- some teams have LN2 pots, some teams not enough pot (cooling help for OC and OC help for points despite a low overlocked CPU...)
- one only benchmark who "cancel" the chance to compensate a bad cpu by a good gpu or tweaking. (3D06 + Super Pi 32M + Vantage or 3D03 would be far better...)
- the only goal for Asus is to break WR instead of promoting their products in a fair and skilled competition

Since AOCC Berlin isn't a contest but just an event to break WR using ASUS products. Although I love ASUS mainboard, I'm not sure to want to be an ASUS tool in their marketing activities... I will give my definitive answer tomorrow (after a good night) but if I don't see major changes (real contest instead of a common WR breaking on Asus products), I won't be at this event...

This AOCC is not the same competition like as AOCC in H-K, we have smaller amount of time for bench.

Time for preparation and bench is almost the same :). LN2 pot for 4870 is very specific since it's a small mounting (not compatible nVidia for example). We have LN2 pots but for nVidia / classical ATI mounting.

Just a word regarding the French team. I've propose myself to bring ln2 pot more than a week ago when I've seen (asus_france) now it's too late and I wont make 250km+ to just pick up 4 GPU ln2 pots.

Bring some fans with you unmmount the coooling put of the plastic component and roxx this in air cooling.

Aircooling mean no coldbug issues. You have ONLY 1 day to perform that !!!! whithout knowing your mobo /ram / cpu setup... It's far enought to have decent score event in gpu air cooling.

Note : I'll be there for a special edition of O/C TV, if some guy want to do interview or so on just drop me a PM ;)

EDIT : Maybe i'll bring some Champagne for the "after-party" tweaking side :D

I think it was an incompatibility issue with the memory we were using, I am not saying the memory was bad at all it is very good memory but the M/B’s bios just needs an update to be compatible with the memory we used, I have the kit that we used at the Berlin event and the only difference I ran the setup with was with some Dominator memory and the system ran fine again, I did only run stock air, as you can see it was easy to hit 500FSB with a quad core CPU when we all had trouble even getting 410FSB and a small over clock using ln2 for our cooling.

Here is a pic of the what i got running 3D06 using a single GFX card and air cooled Quad core cpu today with the kit we all used in Berlin all but the memory.

I expect this issue to be sorted out within a week so there will be no problems with the muskin memory and this motherboard.

It was great to meet up with everyone and make new freinds and at the end of the day even though we had some problems we all had fun.

It was absolute perfect the last couple of days.
Great to see you all and to bench together at such a event.
We also had a lot of issues with our setup, same as Paul and Dave from the English team. To bench @ crossfire was a nogo, no matter what (even everything default), so we continu at the end with a singel card. We do not have the screens, only a picture of the score, because I had forgotten to save the screens on the USB sticks :(. Later on this week Loc.o will up some pictures etc. incl. the photo with our single card score.

Again Asus, thanks for the great event.
And to you guys, it was a blast :up::D, hope we can do this more often.
