Yo peeps!
This weekend, Friday 8th to Sunday 10th, youngpro and I will be putting on a Team Australia Extreme Overclocking demonstration on the Thermaltake booth at the WCG Australia Finals held at Luna Park Sydney – details such as location, open times etc can be found here (http://au.worldcybergames.com/t.php/WCG+Event+schedule%2C+playing+times%2C+tournament+ details) - note: entry is free so come along if you’re in Sydney!
It will be a good chance for any overclockers in Sydney to check out some extreme cooling, overclocking in general and some drool-worthy hardware.
We’ll be benching a variety of benchmarks and focusing mainly on the single threaded varieties such as Aquamark3, 3DMark05 and 3DMark01 to test out the legs on pro’s and my Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 and E8600 chips.
The hardware we’ll be using includes:
GIGABYTE GA-EP45-Extreme
GIGABYTE GA-EP45T-Extreme
GIGABYTE GA-EX48T-DQ6
Intel Core 2 Duo E8600 retail E0 Q820A599 (pro's)
Intel Core 2 Duo E8600 ES E0 Q814A527 (mv's)
Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 retail C0 Q740A497 (mv's - bought from dinos22, was the 6.1GHz chip (http://forums.overclockers.com.au/showthread.php?t=693968&highlight=e8500))
Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 retail C0 *code TBC* (pro's)
Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9770 C0 C741D503 ES (mv's)
Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9650 C0 *code TBC* (pro's)
AMD HD4870 CrossFire
AMD HD4850 CrossFire
Kingston HyperX DDR3-1800 2GB (2x1GB) memory kit
Western Digital VelociRaptor 300GB 10k rpm 2.5" drive
Thermaltake ToughPower 1500/1200W system PSU
Thermaltake ToughPower Express 650W GPU PSU
We've got some good chips to test this weekend. Most of the chips have already seen 6GHz or higher so lets hope the GPUs come good and we get some solid runs on the board.
To make sure we've got the temperatures taken care of, we’ve ordered a 175L tank of LN2 for use throughout the weekend ^__^
Not sure what to expect? Check out some of the pics from last year’s event:

For those looking for further details on WCG Aus Finals @ Luna Park Sydney, you can find it all here (http://au.worldcybergames.com/t.php/WCG+Event+schedule%2C+playing+times%2C+tournament+ details).
We’re looking forward to the event and seeing some of the Sydney overclockers drop by for a chat and a gander at the overclocking.
If by chance you’re coming specifically to see the overclocking, please note that pro won’t be getting into Sydney until late evening Friday. This means we’ll be holding off all big clocks until Saturday and Sunday so we have all hands on deck!
Stay tuned for updates! :D
