I've been tweaking with my bios a bit and have been able to load Windows at 2.85GHZ. However, the 3dmark scores I get are lower than the 2.4GHZ ones. Anyone ever have a problem like this? I'm completely

What are your temps when this happens? Doesn't the p4 throttle when it gets too hot?

the overclocking does raise temps to about 114 degrees Farenheit for the CPU and just under 90 for the system as a whole (these are the readings that my mobo gives during bootup). That's pretty hot but as I understand its not a dangerous temperature...Please correct me if I'm wrong...

I applied some thermal grease today before leaving for work. it was using the pad before...That should help temperatures by maybe 3 or 4 degrees...

ya that is way to hot for idle temps. What is your room temperature and case temperature at. What HSF are you using

the room is 70-80 Farenheit. Case temp stays under 90. Using the retail HSF

Hmm...from info I've read around, the retail HSF is good. If getting a Volcano 7+ or something would let me hit 3GHZ I'd shell out the 40 bucks for it but I'm not sure how much it would help...

On a positive note, retail fan on my MSI 4400 (it doesn't even have heatsinks) lets me get up to 315/711. I'm fairly pleased with that...
