$165*2 = $330 + $100 = $430.

I'd say grab a GTX 260 and sit tight. Even if the 280 55nm comes out, you can grab another 260 by then on your 780i SLI mobo and kick its arse :D

If you get a 280 now there's a chance it will become obsolete by Sept/Oct.

nopes because its cheaper and when the 280 becomes obsolete, you can get another one and itll kick the new ones ass for less money

And the 260 won't be?No. Because the 260 represents its value for money at its current price where as the 280 needs to come down to around $380 to this.

Secondly, the newr 260s and 280s will be much more expensive as well (they will debut at Nvidia's original GT200 prices).

@CRonaldo, the GTX 260 is 1.5 times performance a regular 8800GTX, so no not much perf will be lost.

I done the exact same thing 2 weeks ago Ronaldo.

I sold one of my 8800gtx's a few months ago and then sold the other a few days before I got my Gtx 260.

Benches I have done with Crysis, Tomb Raider Legend and COD4 showing the 8800gtx's to be a slight bit faster, but it doesnt feel that way.

My gaming experience has improved a good bit with just the single gtx 260 over sli, everything is running smoother, cleaner and glitch free.

Fan is fairly quite at stock levels and its knocked down the system temp a bit.

I went with a Evga one for €240 and plan to step up to 55nm when the 3 months is nearly up.

You gatta be kidding me ? 2xGTX's are alot faster then a single GTX280. You'd be downgrading and wasting money.... sorry dont do it.

Look at these benchmarks. 2x8800GT are faster then a single GTX280. and the GTX is alot faster then the GT so do the math

On paper yes, but you dont notice the paper.

I have a better experience with one gtx 260 with overclock, then 2 x 8800gtx's with overclocks as well.Alot of people have went with one HD4870 and sold two 8800gts/8800gtx to fund it and they have nothing but positives.

The reviews are flawed, numbers alone mean nothing

If you go with step up program you go better again and its always best to get the best single card you can afford and go from there.

older cards in Ali have more stuttering

the 260 has none of this ;)
