View Full Version : Newegg jack up 4000/GTX200 series prices

They raised the 4850's back up to $200, 4870's back up to $310, gtx260's back up $280 usually $300 or more.

Anyone have any idea why they'd have a sudden change of heart on the prices?
I find this very strange and really annoying.

Maybe because nobody likes to pay higher prices for the same thing then you did a day ago.....

We were just getting price drops why would the consumer wanna see them rise back to where they started whether then see the prices continue to drop?

I think some of the wackos over at Newegg are on crack....
Are there any other US e-tailers doing the same?

Fry's still has it for $159 after rebate, and ZipzoomFly still has it for $169. So no big deal.

Don't worry, its just their algorithm that kicked in. A lot of tech items, not just video cards went up in price as well. It should go back down in a couple of hours.

Newegg this, newegg that - America is big, don't you guys have any other etailers? I have four that I use, can count on and check prices between, and there are 4 million people living in this country!

I just don't get why you guys seem so focused on this one etailer. :p:

Well yeah obviously the majority is junk, but with so many of them surely there must be at least, I don't know, ten etailers that are good?

Motherboard Pro/FX Video cards is another good one.

Because you usually go for one with a good policy and the best price newegg usually has both of those.

What's this algorithm you speak of?

Hm in a way it might be a good thing, reduces the temptation for me to get one and stick with my current card... *pats x1950xt*

No they don't. If your going to buy memory or CPU's dont go to newegg, their return policy on CPU's are something like 8-14 days and it cant be opened. memory is also around 8-14 days, have fun testing that if you ordered ground shipping.

I got my last 2 sets of memory from Mwave, you have like 30 days no questions asked return policy on ram. Next time I buy a CPU I will find a place that has the same policy (if Mwave doesnt right now). Pop it in, see if all is in order and no cores are showing abnormal temp differences (meaning imperfect cores or temp sensors).

Its all about return policy.

They probably are just trying to get me to buy my (new) 4870 at Tigerdirect is my guess guess. I've grown to like TD very much over the past few weeks. I've gotten 2 faulty 4870's and they've returned them no questions asked. Even paid for shipping, just sent me a UPS shipping label, I just gotta drop it off at a station. Neweggs always good with rma's for me, never had them turn one down, but I've always had to pay shipping and wait for a turn around time.

While you're kind of correct on the cpu......their refund is 7 days, return for replacement is 30 days.....you're way off on the memory return/refund rules. You can return memory for refund within 30 days, return for replacement for up to a year.

You gotta quit buying open box items, Zaskar...quit confusing the open box terms with the new item terms.

If they keep doing crap like that they are going to lose some loyal customers.

I quit buying stuff from newegg, since they are charging NY state tax now. So it doesn't matter to me what their prices do anymore :P

same here. i actually haven't shopped on newegg for quite a while. for some reason, i can never get paypal to work on newegg. from all the other sites, surprisingly tigerdirect is my favorite. zipzoomfly takes a little longer to ship out, and the others i didn't order enough from to get a conclusion.

thread moved.Even if it was news, it would be fake.

Newegg barely raised prices by $10 (HD 4870s and GTX 280s went from $270 to $280+) and people get all fired up ???

It's a dilemma when the 4Chan generation is on here at Xs X_X

yea same here, but only for expensive stuff.
the tax on thumbscrews/cables/case fans/cpu coolers is unnoticeable though.
its a shame, cause half of their stuff ships from new jersey.
