Ok here goes.

I have been working and saving up for the past few months with the aim of building a new rig based around a Wolfdale dualcore. I got all the WC gear first, and by the time i was ready to buy parts i decided that it would be silly to spend all my dosh now, in light (or is that a shadow:p:) of Nehalem.

So here's the deal:
To get me over the line until Nehalem arrives, imma have me some fun with all this lovely WC gear i've got sitting around.;) I've ripped the guts out of my current PC, which has served me well (i'm cringing as i type that) for the past two years. Here are the specs:

Intel E6300 @ 2.33GHz, 1.28V (currently)
ASUS P5N-E SLi (nVidia 650i SLi chipset)
2GB (2x1GB) OCZ Platinum Rv2 (mobo only works with one dimm tho, thanks nVidia:rolleyes:)
320GB Seagate barracuda 7200.10

I plan on OC'ing the tits off the E6300, i've had it to 2.6GHz on stock volts so let's get this little succer to 3GHz and beyond!:yepp:

Here's some pics of the gear i'm using. Sorry about the quality, we only have a POS 3.2MP HP point&shoot. They came out ok with some outdoor lighting though.

My lowly E6300, i feel for the little guy, what he's about to go through:D

The mighty PA120.3! Nothing you guys haven't already seen, but i wanted pics anyhow . Note the BP compressions, they're just for looks, i'm not using them yet:p:. And distilled water, 4L for $5 at my local supermarket. Not bad eh?:yepp:
http://i526.photobucket.com/albums/cc346/wentworthmeister/PA_h20_barbs.jpg?t=1217565888

EK res and Duralene 7/16in ID 5/8in OD tubing. I'm not using the res this time round, i'll save it for the real rig.

EK Supreme dis-assembled. I got the plexi version so i can keep an eye on the internals and any potential clogging...

The base of the Supreme. Look at those curves! Hang on, is it curving the right way!?

And my bed. What a bloody mess...:shakes:

Here's where all this beaut stuff is gonna live for the next few months, take over my desk it will .

Scythe S-Flex F 1600rpm, pick of the bunch i reckon. Got the gasket on no probs too.

The desk has been invaded!!!. Here i'm just about to get the tubing runs laid out.

The loop is ready for the leak test, finally. Sorry 'bout the blurry pic, I was up till 2am getting it all sorted and couldn't hold the camera still when i woke up :ROTF::down:.

Well that's all for now. I'll update later tonight when the leak test is finished.

Uh huh

I've got an '88 ZXR250, had it for about 6mths. Since i bought it in Jan i've put about 5000kms on it. I love it, but i'm looking forward to upgrading when i get off restrictions next February.

Wow i don't think i'd touch an R1 for a long time. They don't call them widow-makers for nothing! I'm looking at a Suzuki SV650S, some thumpin' V-twin action

@Disrupt: Lol, it must be something in the water down here in Oz hey! :p:

I didn't know we opened up an Embassy office in Melbourne.

Looking great, my friend.

I like your water for 4L for AU$5 :) I paid US$0.69 for 4.5L (gallon) :)

Holy moly!!!

I knew WC would lower my temps, but i just got the system up and running (touch wood:D) and coretemp is reporting 17 deg C at idle. According to the temp diode plugged into the scythe kaze controller (measuring Air in temps to the PA) my ambient is 18 deg C.

Ok, so there's something not quite right, perhaps coretemp is not calibrated correctly or something. But to put it in perspective, under the Zalman 9500 it would idle at 28 deg C, same settings. So that's a 10 deg drop at idle, not bad hey!

Time to run orthos and see how the load temps are...

Edit: Alright i've had enough already. It's nearly 1am here and this is the second night running. I'm off to bed!

Good morning, good morning, good morning :D

After a good nights sleep i'm pleased to say that under OCCT full load, the processor didn't even get over 25 deg. That's not even a mild sweat! Somehow i think i'm not stressing the PA120.3 that much...

Here are some shots of the finished loop. Note how i mounted the pump, it was getting warm sitting on the matt (up to 48 deg according to a temp diode squasheed underneath), so i decided to move it up to at least let some air in. Unfortunately the old guts of an ArcticCooling VGA cooler was all i could find :ROTF:

Enjoy.

18C ambient...a little chilly in there?

I like the no case setup, makes things super easy to work on for bench sessions!

Funny about that, I'm almost over it already. It's kinda cool to have everythig laid out like that, but heck is it noisy! I'm also not liking the 'bling factor' at all. I got the plexi top, the UV dye and cathodes and leds to go into the block, but i'm not impressed by it at all. So imma have to say:

Understatement FTW!!!!

Can't wait to get me a big black MM cube or a sleek Lian-Li, all black of course.;)

And yes, the ambient is a little low... I try my best to beg and petition my parents to turn up the ducted heating, but all to no avail.:( We're saving energy they say. But i'm cold!!

There certainly is something in the water down here in OZ

As for the R1, I would never suggest it to someone unless they were well seasoned Rider.(my Factory worked YZ250 seasoned me....FAST! :shakes:)
... however before you close the book with Suzuki, have a look at the Triumph 675 Naked's..... they are extremely nice, and have the Rev's and Torque.... a nice combination to have when in the twisties then come onto a straight.....

Trust me i would love a Street Triple 675, but we're talking about a $5000 difference there. I could get an SV650 for $6500-$7000, the Triumph is almost non-existent in the second-hand market (and that's the market i'm in;)) and would cost around $11,000.

In other news i'm about to crack 3GHz! I just passed OCCT at 2.95GHz and 1.36V (actual 1.29V), and load temps are hanging around 30 deg. I've no idea how far this chip will go, but i'll keep you posted (get it!?)).

are using the ek 250res?

08-02-2008, 02:35 AM
Nah not in the end disrupt. I origionally had it mounted directly to the pump using the G1/4 male-to-male connector, but i thought it was a bit top heavy, looked like it might tip over. Due to the caseless setup i couldn't mount it to anything, so i ditched it :p:. I could have laid it on its side, but i couldn't find a layout to make it work. I regretted it in the end, trying to bleed the loop with the T-line was a PITA (tho i should be used to that ha!):ROTF:.

I'm not a big fan of the street fighter or naked style sport bikes, I do like the look fairings and body panels provide. The SV will be a great bike for you, very capable ride. The vast majority of guys I ride with use SV's as their track bikes.

My next two wheeler... Triumph Daytona 675! There are so few here in the states, but they are gorgeous and perform very well.

@ Skinnee: Go for the daytona, from all reports they're a cracking sportsbike.

@ mpower: Feser UV Blue. I only put about 10 drops in, so it's not very strong and doesn't glow much.

Ok fellas it's UPDATE TIME! :D

I've had the HD4870 for a few weeks now, i've been waiting for my replacement HX620 which arrived today. While i was picking it up i grabbed a 4GB (2x2GB) kit of Dominators, the 8500C5D DDR2 sticks. Lovely things they are, sorry i don't have any good pics of 'em yet...

Anyways i got some nice arty shots today, i stuffed around with contrast and colour settings for the first time, screwed a few pics up but got some nice ones too. Enjoy :)

First up is the 4870:

The EK is doing great. I got the acrylic top so i could keep an eye on the accelerator plate (or strainer as some call it lol). There's been no funny business as of yet, so fingers crossed!
