the psu powers the amplifier, because the thing is usually used in cars and i use it now for my flat.
and i planned my life by a lot, so all this bull:banana::banana::banana::banana: has a reason. :D

I hope the rippling (from the switching PSU) doesn't impair audio quality.

Wont impair at all, car audio equipment usually has to deal with near AC wave input from the alternator anyways ;)

One of my room mates was using old PSUs to make heavy water. Stopped that project because it takes so friggin long, but he's an Electrical Engineer so he fiddles around with them (read: electrocutes himself :D) in his spare time.
