I have been spending a while trying to fix my own computer problems. Usually, I can figure out and fix whatever is ailing my computer, but I can't figure out what is wrong with my computer. I hope this is the correct subforum to post in.

These are some of the errors I can remember from the bsods.

Netio.sys
Win32k.sys
Dxgkernel
Nvlddmkm
USBport.sys
IRQL Not Equal
Memory Management
Bad Pool Caller? <---I can't remember exactly what it was called.
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

This is my current Setup
E8400
Blackops G28 bios
EVGA 8800GT
Seagate 9200.11 500gb
1866 mhz Cellshock
Thermal Take Tough Power 1200W
Vista Ultimate 64bit

My goal was to take the computer to 4.0 ghz and the ram to 2000mhz. I am able to boot into windows from 333 fsb to 580 fsb using various settings. When I am in normal windows after a awhile I would usually get a IRQL Not Equal error or a Memory Management error. If I am playing a game like Crysis, Team Fortress 2 or Counter strike I can get errors from IRQL Not Equal to NVLDDMKM errors.

I used Orthos Blend yesterday at stock settings. 3.0 ghz and my Ram at 1066 mhz. There were no errors in over 6 hours. So I don't think my ram itself is at fault.

I have no idea where the weak link in my computer is. I don't think my memory is defective. Is it a problem with my timings or my cpu gtl's? I have no idea.

Ps. Does anyone know how to register their motherboard at Quantum Force? The website hangs whenever I try to do it.

Pss. If anyone is wondering why I have a 1200w overkill power supply for this build, it is because I was planning to do tri-sli some time ago. I found that a single 8800gt was really good.

Maybe it's your voltages. Can you post your voltages please in a specific determined OC. :)

that all sounds like memory/chipset related problems... could be cpu as well, but most likely memory and chipset.
like grungero said, please post the detailled bios settings your using and we can try to help you get it stable :)

I entered more info above. Am I missing anything.

I had similar problems - while Prime95 was stable i got BSODs in games and sometimes it crashed to reboot when Vista 64 was loading. My first bet was on the GPU driver, but it turned out that i had to increase the NB voltage a notch from 1.6v to 1.7v (P5WDG2 WS Pro FSB 1600). Well, it's hard to understand that Prime95 was stable...

Tried memtest already ?

I have tried Memtest a little. I need to use it again for multiple passes.

I thought that bumping the NB voltage would help. I went all the way to 1.76v under water and that did not help.

I tested my ram at 1600mhz SPD settings with my NB at 1.5v for 7 hours on orthos blend with no crashes. I am going to try 1800 and 1866 later today. I am baffled.

I tested 1800mhz at 1.7 NB volts 450fsb and ram at 1.95v with SPD timings. I received a new BSOD this time:

LOL, nice avatar mango! :D
i had those 2d stable but 3d crash problems a lot, its quite common... it usually means the chipset isnt stable at the settings you use, or, the memory isnt 100% stable. when you load only the memory controller and memory it might be stable, but once the pciE interface pumps a couple of gigabytes per second to the chipset and through the fsb, things change...
so it could also be the fsb not beeing 100% stable...

here are some things you can try:
how about lower cpu multi, same issue?
try lower or higher pciE clocks
how about memory slots 1 and 3?
command rate 2t?
did you try to adjust the memory slots skews individually and tried + and - steps?
at what speed is the system 100% stable?

For the multiplier I normally use the 8x mult. For a while I was using 8.5x x 500 = 4.25ghz. Unfortunately, I kept on getting "hardware fault detected please consult stress.txt" from Orthos. I did lower the multiplier to 7x to see if I could locate what was causing my blue screens. It didn't help, I still got a multitude of errors and was not Orthos stable.

I have never changed the PCie clock. I think I have always kept it at 33.6. I may be referring to the wrong thing.

I have only tested a little with 2t at 1000mhz. I used 2t when I wanted to reach 2100mhz on my ram.

When I first bought my board I used slots 1 & 3. It was before the PO4 bios came out and was not getting many results. I saw a lot of people using slots 2 & 4 so I did the same thing.

Does switching ram slots make me have to re authenticate Windows Vista 64?

I did play with memory clock skews and command skews. An Anandtech article showed one setting that used +1, -2 command skew. I was able to initially boot with those settings, however within mid boot I would reach a screen that said that a windows file was corrupt, or bios checksum error and led me to an option for a memory testing diagnostic.

Different combination of -1 -2 -3 had different effects, but none of them were stable.

I know the computer is stable at stock settings which is, 3.00ghz,333fsb, 1066mhz Ram, stock volts, stock memory timings 7-7-7-20.

I believe the maximum stable settings is 3.6 ghz at 1.4v, 400fsb @1.5v, 1600mhz at stock SPD settings 7-7-7-20.

Does anyone know how to register their board at quantum-force? Its has been months and I am still unable to.

dont try to register it .. just sighn up as if you dont have a Q/F product and it will work ;)

also IE7 works better

I already have a profile at Quantum Force. I did the same thing as you suggested a while ago. When I go back to register my Blackops the website hangs indefinitely. I have only tried using IE7 and Firefox 3. I want to register in case, as a last resort, I have to RMA.

do NOT register your BlackOps product don't fill in your serial number for your board ... just say NO to the question "do you have a Q/F product" and sign up

same thing happened to me last december (eye tried to register my product and site just hangs also till eye did it the way eye stated to do it) ..... sham stated this is how to get to site on another forum
saaya has stated the same Here in another post

good luck ! took me a few tries to get in also but it works

Are you saying that no one can RMA?

HDCHOPPER

??? huh didnt say anything about RMA issues

was just telling you how to get onto the Q/F site to get all the downloads for yourself

I guess I didn't communicate well. I meant to say that I already have a profile and can download bios and utilities from the Quantum Force website.

My problem is that even though I registered, I still can't register my board.

edit: I finally figured out how to use sfc /scannow in vista. Message popped saying that

"Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\logs\cbs\cbs.log."
