View Full Version : need some advice for vdimm mode

i decided to vdimm my p4p800 tonight and i know what to do where to solder where to read vdimm etc etc etc

but here some questions

1 can i raise vdimm when system is runnig of have to shut it down and then raise it

2 can i raise vdimm from 2.85 to 3.1 or 3.2 in 1 or 2 hours time or should i raise to something like 2.95 wait there for one day then 3.05 and so on

3 i think my hyperx can handle 3.2 by the posts i read here any other idea

thanks for your answers and wish me luck this will be mine first vdimm and i am preying not to kill my mobo

Changing the voltage while its on isn't the safest way, but it usually works, Just don't turn the VR down too much becuase sometimes they will jump the 0 and fry the board.

You can raise it as fast as you want, you could go from 2.6 to 3.1 in 5 seconds if you wanted.

Most of the time anything under 3.3V is pretty safe, but you probably already know the ram won't last as long. I would try to stay in the range of 3.00V-3.20V Just make sure you keep air moving directly over it when it starts to get hot.
