Hey guys,

Just curious what kinda pcb colors you like :D
feel free to post comments, oh and the poll is multiple choice, so you can select several colors and then click "vote" :)

I can remember the white pcb of SAPPHIRE Pure Innovation PC-A9Rx480.

I really liked the looking of this motherboard and I would be glad to see this colour in the future again. :yepp:

Black. Simple amazing. :D

OT:

Where is the temp sensor located on mars mobo? Is it near in the memory part?

if u guys could do a uv clear that would be amazing

OT- saaya, are u going to change your avitar, i keep thiking that your cell shock still

and keep up the digital pwms im going to switch to foxconn if u guys have those on the boomfield

yeah i still have the ES version of that board :D
the es board has reveresed colors, its black with white ATI logo on the back.
it had huuuge caps close to the memory slots and the pwm was desgined so you could put a waterblock or any 40x40mm chipset heatsink on there, it even has the mounting holes around the pwm... really nice design... unfortunately the BIOS support for that board was terrible and it doesnt overclock very well at all... could just be my ES board tho that has this problem...

Where is the temp sensor located on mars mobo? Is it near in the memory part?let me ask the engineers...
you mean for the nb temperature? its actually on the back of the pcb.
its not very accurate, but accurate enough to see if the nb is cooled well or not. I actually want a more accurate version in our future boards and we are working on that already :)

OT- saaya, are u going to change your avitar, i keep thiking that your cell shock still

i still havent found a good one to use.. :(
im looking for a nice black and silver foxconn logo :D
i found one but i didnt manage to take some nice pics of it, i need a better cam :D

about the digital pwm, of course we will continue to use it.
its quite expensive, but its really really good, so i think its worth it.

what do you mean with uv clear?

zanzabar
07-14-2008, 11:07 PM
u put a clear/see through option so if u could make that uv reactive, ive never seen it but it would be awesome with all the traces with a glowing pcb around them

saaya
07-14-2008, 11:27 PM
hmmmm now i know what you mean... :D
i checked with our engineers... its possible, bu the pcb layers arent clear, tey are slightly yellowish brownish... so since we use high quality 8 layer pcbs, itll look rather dim and slightly brownish, yellowish...

when the leds are turned on or you have it backlid, itll look beautiful, but when the leds are turned off, it would look pretty ugly :D
and you wont be able to see all the traces unfortunately, it would be very blurry since its 8 layers... but its an interesting idea and ill keep it in mind :)

FatAlbert

black pcb.

yellow/gold/silver/black and red slots :D

so why not include monitoring lights under the board so it would have the power checks light up the board, u could do a special edition to test it out

or could u change the colors so u have a uv reactive layer on top and a lighter one in the back like white or neon green/yellow/blue

black with as low number of colours used for the components as possible is my favorite, white like the sapphire one with the red parts is nice as well.
But to be honest, aslong as its not pink I'll still buy it anyway if it performs even if its gigabyte colored.

Black and white rocks. But then it needs to be just one color for slots/power connector. :)

Black pcb allows to you find on PCB the tracks for mod. and with intensive use, under ln2, highlights problems of condensation and oxidation more much easily.

For me PCB Black is only choice for extreme mainboard....:D:D

Black, White, See throw and blue :D

I know you can't do it since you said a UV clear would end up yellowish brown. But if it was actually clear, or if you found a way to keep it clear, then on the middle layer, put a UV red stencil of the Quantum Force Shield Logo. That way when its hit with black light, the MB glows and the shield pops in view. I think that would be just cool as hell!!!

Thanks a lot! :toast:

black pcb.

yellow/gold/silver/black and red slots :D
mhhh reminds me of heroquest somehow :D

Ok. :D Is isopropyl alcohol (70% solution) safe for removing stock thermal grease?try it carefuly on the edge, but i think itll atack the pcb and will make the surface rough and milky... theres some good electronics cleaning spray you can get in any car or hardwareshop :)

For me PCB Black is only choice for extreme mainboard....:D:Dhmmmm good points! i never thought about it that way... black is def better to spot ice/snow forming!

manly PINK !!! would be awesome... seriously i would buy that :Dlol... with white slots and a huge hello kitty smiley face on the back? ^^

Whites are cool. Anyone remember Soltek's white boards?

JDM FTW?

But anything else should be black, and blacker.

White PCB, white slots, white or black heatsinks...

PCI-Slots would be clear with inbuild LEDs.

zanzabar
07-26-2008, 07:56 PM
here is a further explanatin on teh clear idea

so u said that the problems were 1 it turned yellowish and 2 it need light to look cool

so if u move the power indicator lights to the bottom and made them biger, with some other decrative ones then there would be lights no matter what and it would look cool

also do u have pics of the clear pcb, i havnt seen 1

White!

Like the old Soltek Socket A stuff and ATI's Grouper/Sturgeon beauties :)

thanks for the feedback! :toast:

here are some examples of what "clear" pcbs look like...
not really cool with leds in the dark, but once you turn the light on and see the pcb... :S yuck! :D

They should do fades on the motherboards.

Have it be black on the CPU side and fade to lime green on the expansion slot side. I'd buy 5. :ROTF:

take the img tags off they wont let u embed their image

and i could really use a pink or white or clear blackops and an ln2 pot :) , especially with an all copper top (i know that u saya didnt get corrosion or migration but a 2 fan rad and any migration will start to impede flow since AL goes to the copper it wont hurt the AL rad like it would a copper)

im really starting to think of making a few versions of the board in different colors :D
limited edition in a different color... should be fun :D

zanzabar
09-14-2008, 05:32 PM
is there any info on some special editions, like an XS test sample that is white with a blue XS logo on the front/back that u could distribute samples in

saaya
09-14-2008, 06:49 PM
checking now if we can make a limited quantity with different pcb color.
different printing on the pcb will be quite some work... and different slot colors etc even more.
pcb color alone might be possible, but im not 100% sure :D

hey guys, heres an update for you regarding pink and other funky colors :D
basically, its possible, but its quite a hassle... so for now, unfortunately we wont be able to have any special editions of boards with a special pcb color.
we might be able to do this in future however... and we might have our ES boards in a different color than the retail boards, so that way there will, sortof, be special edition boards with a different pcb color, but they wont be for sale...
