:welcome:

This'll be my second water-cooling project. My first one was a success, though when time came to upgrade the watercooling loop, the small case appeared to be a problem.

Solution: Get rid of it and buy a new one :p:

Current Hardware:
Intel E4500 @ 2.8ghz (on stock cooling)
EMX P35-Pro Motherboard
2x1GB Crucial Ballistix Tracier ddr2 800mhz
250GB Western Digital SATA
MSI NX8800GT OC (Single slot)
Corsair HX620

I'm planning to get two 4870's, and upgrade my power supply. After a while, I'll upgrade both my motherboard and processor.

Here's a picture of my first water cooling project: 3D-Aurora-Zero

My new case:

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3002/2637727383_f0734abb95.jpg?v=0

Huge!! Here it is compare to a standard generic ATX casing:

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3080/2638536737_d3c7b3e161.jpg?v=0

Spacious :D I'll be putting in a 360 radiator on the bottom (bye bye hdd racks), then I'll be using (read: stealing) an hdd rack that came with a different case which I already gave to my younger brother :)

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3003/2638531729_95b65fd593.jpg?v=0

Lots of nice stuff inside, :)

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3041/2638530031_c3869eff77.jpg?v=0

I already placed my system inside the case since I was really REALLY itching to, so here it is

Removable motherboard tray:

Ones I already have
- DTek FuZion Version 1
- Nozzle Kit

- Alphacool Reservoir 10

- Radiator Fans: Thermaltake A2018's
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3263/2488998019_d9f5b860a0.jpg?v=0
I know they're not the 'conventional' radiator fan, but I like the leds.

Here's a nice picture of the Lian-Li V2010
http://lian-li.com/v2/tw/product/upload/image/V2010/v2010f3.jpg

Any suggestions as to how to order my loop? I wanted to put the radiator on the bottom, but it seems that having it above will make it closer to the processor, thus lessening the amount of tubing I would need to go from radiator to cpu block, meaning more efficiency, less tubing used, and cleaner look. I could then reserve the bottom space for a radiator for my gpu's. Any advice would be nice :)

I don't think it really matters if the radiator blows hot air on your CPU seeing that it is cooled by the loop.

PS : We now have a wc build log sub forum so PM a mod to move it there.

InfinityNX
07-06-2008, 01:35 AM
Ugh, I didn't know about that sub forum. Thanks, I'll do that then.

Wait, I seem to have phrased my sentence wrong: I realized that putting the radiator on the top of the case would minimize the length of tubing I would need to go from the radiator to the CPU, making it more efficient and making it look better. Problem is, I'm not sure if a 360 would fit on top.

MomijiTMO
07-06-2008, 01:47 AM
I'm sure it will fit but you might not be able to use the top bay drive.

InfinityNX
07-06-2008, 01:54 AM
I'll putting an Imon Ultra bay on the top 2 bays, so i think it'll fit, since the ultra bay is short.

MomijiTMO
07-06-2008, 02:57 PM
Yeah I wonder why they changed it Rockford. A lot of people bought this case just for the reverse ATX setup. I don't know any issues that were encountered other than people complaining about their psu cables not reaching the mobo but that could be easily solved.

Pellepel
07-06-2008, 03:37 PM
nice I actually thought about getting one of these v2000+ back then, my friend has one, but I wanted something different and MM came along and it was just right!

Nice InfinityNX, I like to see your progress.

@Logos
Great idea, thanks.

@philbrown
Yeah, by itself, it's very simplistic, but pretty dull in terms of bling. It's also a :banana::banana::banana::banana::banana: to cable-manage (refer to some of my pics). I'm already in the planning stage of the mods that I'll be doing. Tomorrow, this'll be going to our very own tantric. He'll be helping me with the build. He's the guy behind Project Toaster (cosmos-s build), Project Thessa(PC-A77 build), Junkun13's build(cosmos-x build) and a lot more :)

@Rockford
The V2000+ was a legend in it's own right, though for me, I really like the regular ATX over the inverted one.

@Pellepel & RealRedRaider

Thanks guys, hope I'll be able to please you as much as these other build logs.

Logos
07-07-2008, 12:16 AM
they went back to non-inverted ATX because of users complaining about a lack of efficiency - I think it's called phase change - of stock coolers pipes on most recent mainboards that require a normal ATX position to work well, that is with southbridge at the bottom, and heat going up...

I took the case and PC parts to tantric's place and we planned a loop for the system. We took apart the case to get it ready for powder coating. The insides will be powder coated black :)

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3019/2663632656_5a4e0744de.jpg?v=0

It will be powder-coated, so the brushed aluminum will get erased. Any comments?

im not a fan of that color but whatever floats your boat go for it.

How about the inside? matte black?

InfinityNX
07-13-2008, 01:26 AM
@distruptfam

I'm open to other color suggestions, but the problem is I have an IMON ultrabay on the front, which is black, and has blue lights, so i'm pretty much limited by black and blue.

Insided will be powder-coated black as well :)

metallic and matte together ... it's gonna be tough ...

r you familiar with 3 layer spray? some enamel paint should be good ... but 2 weeks curing is pretty late
before you attempt the spray paint ... you might have to remove the annodized protective cover ... that's gonna take quite some muscle and patience

Bye bye P35 motherboard, Hello X38 :)~
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3088/2709445295_200cb13acb.jpg?v=0

I will be water cooling the CPU and the NB, since these are the only ones I think that need water cooling on these boards. The SB will be cooled by an Akasa SB low profile heatsink, and the mosfets will be cooled by hr-03 thermalrights.
Temporary pc. A lot of hardware inside, but the generic case is handling it like a pro :))

Yes, the sidepanels won't have visible screws on the outside so as to keep the nice, clean look.

I really love those 4870 side attachments and your plumbing in the bottom space. Great stuff.

the custom brackets for the rads i think were custom-made by tantric as well as the acrylic attachments on the 4870s

@Eddie3dfx

The one near the pump is an acrylic custom made one. The one near the front of the case was not a custom made one, but was customized so it could be used with the case :)

@lyl

yeap, made with acrylic. What we did was placed some matte black sticker tape on the 4870's themselves, then, a layer of acrylic (which had the writing on it), then another layer of acrylic which was painted matte black. :D

@Momijitmo

Thanks!

Great things going on here. Adding text can often make things look cheap or cheezy, but you've pulled it off. I especially like the "Project Rae" writing. :up:
