I want a tablet PC for school so I can take notes easily, but I don't want to be forced to get some 12" ultra-portable tablet for many reasons (such as small screen size, price premium, and performance). So why don't any computer companies make a normal 14" or 15" laptop with a touch screen? I don't think I'm the only one that doesn't want to be handicapped to a 12" ultra-portable laptop just so I can have touch screen functionality.

Gateway actually makes a 14" tablet, but you can't even customize the parts, and well, it's Gateway.

Why don't people use paper? (Sorry I just have to say that)

It's making notes...

I have messy handwriting and I'm not very organized. A tablet PC helps in these regards because I can type my notes, and then write on the tablet for any diagrams, symbols, or equations. Also, it will let me be better organized since all my notes will be stored digitally.
