My X48T-DQ6 is a dream to oc. Awesome voltage options, not sure it even needs any mods! The only place I could really say the bios is lacking is in the gtl tuning but it doesn't seem to hurt it any. That comp is gonna be a blast. The 9600gt should be an easy vmod too and a fun card.
Looks like a pretty tight benching schedule and a great assortment too. Very well thought out contest.

Sampsa, actually 5 nordic people will compete against each other and only 1 will go to Taiwan.

"Five (5) people from the qaulifying part of the competition are selected by our judges to continue to the final event where they will meet and compete against each other with identical hardware setups. The winner from that event will get a free trip to Taiwan to compete in the World final of the GIGABYTE CUP 2008."

It was good meeting the overclockers they brought in, almost all new faces.

Habib, brought a vapo to competition. He pushed his quad core to 5ghz for 06, in bios it was at -10c. He registered for XS today.

Quite a few F1 pots from K|ngp|n, A couple aluminum mousepots for gpu's, Mark ran LN2 on GPU.

Hey Gautam,

It was nice to meet you over at the contest... All the benchers were focused on the contest, so I didn't want to break the mood.

If you walked up to the case, people would have known. I put a little sign that said: "Please Do Not Touch!!! - Ton"

*yawn* What are we complaining about again? If you took a comment out of context just ease up a bit. I think we are all getting pissy over the comment about Europeans not representing OC'ing at the last Gigabyte event? If so, it is true that for the most part they weren't hammering out 5.5+GHz runs like the Aussies but they sure as hell tested the FSB clocking and memory clocking on those boards. I'd say they did a fantastic job covering that realm of overclocking. We know Europe has plenty of guys that throw 2.0volts at 45nm processors and cackle when the magic dust is released, they just weren't there last time. No matter what though, we all had a blast and the boards were thoroughly tested/blown up. So can we get over this and focus on other things like hot chicks and fountains of liquid nitrogen?

Now, grab a beer and take a swig, it's the weekend. Kick back and enjoy yourself, there's plenty of time during the work-week to complain and moan. I know I sure do it enough :)

looks like at least Scandinavians are getting a proper comp to find a good OCer

i don't like the idea of picking favourites. we have to do it the hard way in Australia as well and qualify (which actually involved breaking 8M W.R. just to enter) and then beat of some serious competition to go to Taiwain............that's what everyone needs...........competition..........just like USA guys, just like Scandianvians etc etc

they are going to have great overclockers in the final
my issue is that some regions actually pick ppl and from last time choices were ok i guess but not for this kind of context obviously which was my point. If they pick the same ppl they are doing all the skilled guys a deservice.

Beier, I don't think anyone would seriously bench a benchmark with a buggy bios with crappy efficiency which is what we had (keep in mind they received delivery of actual chipsets like 10 days before the event started) >> i didn't event bother knowing what i can expect if you know what i mean. I was like WHAT ? The first post ever from him.

Telling my mates, he accualy made a negative comment.

:rofl::rofl::ROTF:

ROFL dude
i don't think you understood what i was saying

we did an overclocking event in Taiwan recently for Gigabyte and all the European overclockers invited except for Pt1t were some no names which never saw LN2 or pots or really overclocked........in fact a few of them were underclocking their systems during spring break. What my point is is that GIgabyte should really go find some proper overclockers from Europe and there are tons of great guys including the ones you mentioned

lol how could you even thing i would say something crazy like that hehehe :p::up:

You are the man ;)

Sry for misunderstanding you :D

gomeler;3107156']The guys from Europe for the most part were hardware reviewers and gamer-oriented. No worries though, they did a lot of testing that the rest of us weren't willing to do, we preferred 5+GHz :D

Well it is a bit sad for us to be passed over because they want them to do PR :(

check United team of Poland top 10 or 20 and get 'em all :ROTF:

if you sell a lot of hardware you can check it all the time and get a lot of good chips :p:

Denmark is 24 :D And we SUCK at Hwbot posting :D :ROTF:

Wuhuuu, GF allowed me to participate in this event, so now I'll try to qualify, I will make a late entry... 8-10 or 14th of August... :)

Dinos22, watch out with such comment ;)
But its true that Gigabyte havent been very well organised in Europe.... To be honest, their marketing department in Holland is operating as effeciently as ASUS in Scandinavia = not very active.... Alot of black sheeps, its about getting the right contact person, as some a full of ****.....

How many Gigabyte contests are there ?

I've heard about a public contest, that is supposed to be explained here : http://oc.gigabyte.us/ (seems the server has troubles).
There are around one hundred entries in the CPUZ database with "Gigabyte_Contest" prefixed names.

T_M
07-09-2008, 01:51 AM
Gigabyte is holding national competitions in many countries, and the winners will go to Taiwan to compete against everyone else who wins.
This thread was created for the US national one, but has evolved into the worldwide thread really.

It boggles my mind why the UK seems to never be part of anything on the international overclocking scene; we barely made it to the MSI one and never seem to get invited to any of these parties :(

Ch@pS
07-09-2008, 04:17 AM
What confuses me is that South Africa had one. Now no disrespect to my country or the overclockers in it, but Europe and the UK have overclockers the are more well known and in most cases more experienced.

Not that im complaing, it got me an E8500 to replace my old E8400, but still. :)

Blame your regional marketing department.
In fact, i would be tempted to get a high profile guy to email them to complain.

Its like the US group, they barely support OC'ers at all.

dinos22

Tim is right
pressure has to come from users from different countries as a lot of Gigabyte regional offices don't realise which guys to get and how to even reach the right ppl
