Hey Guys,

To make sure our Boards work with as many PSUs as possible and to help people who build a new system pick a PSU that is know to work well, please post what PSU your using (model no if possible) and let us know if its working fine or you have any issues that could be psu related, such as:
- oc recovery issues, board getting stuck in an endless rebooting loop
- posting issues, board doesnt post properly or at all
- instability, board will shut down under load

Endless rebooting loops can be caused by the psu taking a long time to discharge.
If you turn off the psu, turn it on again and push the power button before the onboard LEDs on the motherboard have turned off, the board might end up in an endless rebooting loop or might not boot properly anymore. to fix this remove the bios battery and put it back after a few minutes.
If you still experience problems please post as many details about the PSU your using or send me or lardarse a private message.

If you have several PSUs, it would be really cool if you could check them and boot a couple of times and enter bios and save etc, just to check if they work. this will helps us to find out if there are PSU related issues, and if there are, where they come from and how we can fix them.
thanks a lot in advance! :toast:

tried it with my other psu's,
pcp&c 1kw, tt toughpower 750w, corsair 550W, Silverstone DA 750w all working fine as well.
however, LardArse posted in other thread its only with some boards that the Issue exists, not all have it, so dont know how reliable the test is since I dont really know if my board is one of those that is picky on the psu.

do you happen to know who builds those PSUs?

Coolermaster realpower 1000w , has problem with oc recovery some times goes in an endless loop
when you run the same settings in bios and just keep rebooting and entering bios and hitting save and exit? or does it happen when you turn off the board and then turn it on again? or does it happen when you change stuff in bios and hence might be caused y pushing the hardware too high?

Silverstone OP1000, sometimes endless boot loops but that is user caused :Dwouldnt have expected anything lesser from you :D hehehe

well we didnt hear about those oc recovery loop problems until recently, so sham is supecting it might be a problem with the latest batch of boards... but its hard to tell... the infos you guys posted here seems to indicate that it might be psu related... so maybe the new batch for some reason doesnt work well with some psus...

Hello!

I tried a Corsair HX1000W & Corsair HX620W PSU with my BlackOps and both worked fine.

I can confirm problems (endless reboot loop) with Enermax Infinity 720W. I tried two different Infinity 720W PSU with two BlackOps motherboards with the same result.

With the Infinity, clearing CMOS makes the system start and allows you enter into the BIOS, but once you modify, save settings (nothing related to overclock) & exit, starts the reboot loop.

The Enermax Galaxy DXX 1000W worked, but gave me problems overclocking. Was impossible to raise 4 GHz with a QX9650 while with the Corsair HX1000W worked fine at that speed.

Hope this helps anyone.

Cheers, ducted.

couldnt get the abit psu or the enermax 1000W psu...
if we figure out its a problem of our board, those psus should be all we need to fix it. if it happens to be psu specific issues, then testing with the other 2 psus i couldnt order wont make a big diff either...

some of our engineers are gonna test compatibility now, ill keep you updated :D

I just got the test results! :D

Coolermaster Realpower 1000W - test passed
Seasonic 600W M12 - test passed
Enermax Galaxy DXX 720W - test failed

Unfortunately the ABIT psu wasnt available and we couldnt find the enermax 1000W either.
The conclusion about the Enermax 720W is that the PSU doesnt shut down immediatly but keeps running for some time, this causes issues with the power cycle on our board, which results in the endless reboot cycles some people have reported.

We will check if we can find the abit and the enermax 1000W psus and check those too, and we will check if we can find a fix for the enermax 720W psu :toast:

EDIT: I checked with our engineers, here are some more details:

After the board tells the Enermax psu to shut down (motherboard closed the PS_ON signal), its still is running for about 10 seconds.
I also tried it in other platforms (MCP72, RD790, ELA01...), and got the same result. I think the problem is in Enermax psu, not in BlackOps. Not sure why, but my guess is that the enermax PSU continues to run for that long to vent the system and remove hot air from the case? since the psu works on some boards, its not a definite psu issue id say, so it doesnt mean the psu is faulty or flawed. I guess its just a compatibility issue. Ill check if i can hook up our engineers with the enermax engineers :D

using both pciE 16x slots? actually all x48 and x38 boards SHOULD run both of their pciE 16x slots at full 16 lanes even if both slots are used :)

foxconn P45 boards however are the only ones that support dual 16x pciE 2.0 since we use a PLX bridge chip.
Eveyrbody else is only doing 8/8 with 2 cards :)

I'm using ocz game xstream 700w PSU and i am experiencing the symptoms you posted. the on/off looping which might be due to overclocking though.
It occasionally shuts down at load.
I don't know if that's from the PSU or from mild overclocking though.

does this happen when the system is not fully stable or also when the system is fully stable?
does the fan continue to spin after the system shuts down?
