Hey guys , I wanted to purchase a new keyboard that is back lit / illuminated seeing that I'm playing cod4 in the dark alot more now, but the area for my keyboard and mouse is kinda cramped so im looking for a good normal sized/compact keyboard that I can use at for gaming at night thanks, im using a logitech mx1000 combo right now thanks

I like my Razer Lycosa, it works great in a dark room. The only issue with it is that in a moderately lit to bright room, it is hard to see the keys. And it is kinda pricy.

Yes, slim/flat keyboards are like laptop keyboards.

how is the brightness for the Razer Lycosa the cnet review said it was dim in the dark but, then again i tend to not really agree with them on alot of their reviews

I have a saitek. It's nothing special, but I'm happy with it after about 3 months. I bought it for $25.

I find it quite difficult to see in decently bright rooms, which makes it useless for me.
OP: If you are in darkness all the time, the Lycosa works great and looks nice, but turn the light on and youre blind.

I've been running a Logitech G-15 keyboard. I have the version 1 one with the blue illumination. Actually, I have two of them. I've never used the newer version 2 one with the red illumination.

I have a Logitech G-11 and I love it. It feels great and you can see the keys in any lighting. It also has a lot more programmable keys the G-15, which is more useable for me than a stupid LCD screen I am never going to look at. (I have a monitor for that!) :D
Just my 2 cents.

I use a Saitek Eclipse also w/ red backlighting. Its isn't all that great. The backlighting consistency is poor. And the keys them self have a lot of play and just doesn't type all that well.

+1 - the Saitek is also pretty good (have both).

I've had mixed luck with my Saitek Eclipse II: they last about 6 months and start to fail. Best one I have tried is the Deck Legend: very stout keyboard, excellent action, well lit, keys will not wear off. EXPENSIVE

Wow the deck legend looks crazy but really hard to spend 150 on just a keyboard damn wish it was cheaper
Razer Lycosa is great
The keyboard feel is amazing too.

I have a Saitek Eclipse II. It has three colours for the backlight (blue, red, cyan) and it's the best typing / feel keyboard i ever used. Switched from a Logitech G15.
