Hello,

Here is something that I have been pondering on, I have a Maximus Formula and as most people know, there are 4 slots for ram. Here's my question. Should I go with 2 - 2 gigs in slots 1 & 3 for 4 gigs total, or 1 gig of ram in each slot for 4 gigs of ram. I plan on using XP and Vista (dual boot)

Thoughts?

Most motherboards i've seen usually don't like to have all of their ram slots filled, IMO go with 2x2GB. What kinda memory are you gettin?

The Maximus Formula proved to be a good clocking board with 4 DIMMs nearly as good as with 2.
If you're into overclocking, and planning to run 4*1GB Micron D9GMH/D9GKX sticks, you can go ahead, it does clock fine.
I've reached 1200+ ( and up to 1290 ) stable with 4 Crucial Ballistix PC2-6400 sticks.
For a "normal" user, and not looking to break the "crazy" barriers when overclocking, a 2*2GB set looks better and will be easier to overclock, but won't reach DDR2-1200+.

I am thinking of using the Corsair memory, but the Mushkin and OCZ also look good.

Does anyone have real world experience with any of the ones I have mentioned? Looking for some feedback on those.

I have had experience with all of those you've mentioned.

But by far, G.Skill is way better, along with Team Group's Xtreem RAM. But G.Skill is what I use now and will be using for a long time.

I sort of have lost faith in Corsair and OCZ was a one time deal for me, so G.Skill I'd say is the best.

I'm using G.Skill as well, I love their RAM.
