for reading a hfs (mac formatted partition) in windows, theres a program called macdrive.

Mac can read NTFS but cannot write to. There are things to fix this and work around them. I commonly use Parallels Desktop and it fixes my needs for my external HDDs that are NTFS.

Easy way...get a USB drive, formatted to FAT. When copying files to stick, be sure to rename to 8.3 DOS format. Plug into windows box...

Take windows files, downgrade file name to 8.3, copy over, plug into MAC...do this all the time with video and audio file to go to the protools station.

macfuse with the NTFS core will give OS X the ability to read AND write to NTFS, but its quite slow on my computer at least. I just use a external FAT drive, or if the file is beyond the FAT limits, like 4gb or something, then i just use some HFS explorer to rip the files off the HFS+ drive.

simplest way is to have a general partition for both of them with FAT32.. no hassles.. :)

id suggest macdrive too tho... it works like a charm....
