SK7 vs SLK700 with the same fan, which will be better?

Guys, i've been wondering about this. When paired with the same fan, which will be the better unit? the SK7 or the SLK700?
Will there be significant improvements in terms of temperature?


I have the chance to choose between 2 units of SK7 or the SLK700 on my dualie Iwill MPX2 board and i was thinking which unit to go as they are both around the same price and i'll be pairing both of them with the same fan as in the Y.S.Tech NFD128125BB-2F, which gives around 59.2CFM@4,500rpms. I can't make a direct comparison as well, i haven't purchased them and am in the midst of decision making as to which will be used.

Anybody have review links i can read on? :D

well, i don't have any links to reviews but the SLK800 barely outperforms the SK7. so i'd imagine that the SLK700 and SK7 would be very close, and the SK7 would possably be better.

you probably already know this, but the SLK700 isn't designed for 80mm fans(but you could probably make one fit if you wanted to).

Yeah, i've read since the SLK800 days that the SK-7 is quite a good performer by it's own right, it's only around 1°C higher than the SLK800 in most cases.

Hm.... thanks for the tip, seriously, i didn't know that the SLK700 is designed for the <70mm fans only, so, i guess i'll be getting the SK7 over the SLK700 instead since my local distributor had ran out of the TMD fans for the SLK700 combo and left with some even louder YStech 70mm than i plan to use.

the results were pretty close, but the SLK700 outperformed the SK7 by .02 C/W. i think they even tested the SK7 with the 80mm fan you're planning on using.

Ah.... great info, but i guess i'll have to settle for the SK7 as i can't get the SLK700 together with the TMD fan as they had ran out of TMD fans' stock.

Dansdata did tested the SK7 with the YSTech i'm planning to use, the 5.4W version :D

Hehe, well, if i found out about this site earlier, i would actually join u guys wif a subteam, too bad i only found out about xtremesystems after i've created the team, it's my own team with a bunch of other local(Malaysian) enthusiasts.

Would be glad to fold for u guys if i hadn't started the team, kinda felt a bit wasted if i kinda make the team leave and join other teams. ;)

BTW, as an update, i just called the shop and found out that they actually had new stock of the SLK700 with TMD fans that came in, woohoo. :D
