Okay...I just assembled everything. I installed Windows2000. Installed SP2. Installed DX 8.1. Ran 3dmark 2001 SE 330 and got a score of just over 7,500. I think there is a lot of tweaking that needs to be done here before we even begin to overclock.

any idiot can change a FSB config and get free performance that way. However, I want to tweak everything else before overclocking. I know that I could run this benchmark right now with a 2.8GHZ CPU and a 320/690 video card (those are just guesses, i haven't oc'ed yet) and get free performance; however, i want to tweak the other stuff first...

I need some suggestions guys!

not that i am lazy jackass,
but there is a :banana::banana::banana:load of stuff that can be done.
i suggest you read online articlels, such as here:
http://www.3dspotlight.com/guides-hardware.shtml
by the way, its the first thing that came up on Google for "tweaking guides",
so i am sure you'll be able to find plenty more yourself.
but if you have any questions in the process,
ASK AWAY!

For some reason i got massive increases in the performance in:

Dragothic
Nature

as an added bonus I also went up drastically in:
Vertex Shader (by 9x!!! )
Advanced Pixel Shader

I OC'ed my system a little. I made the processor 2.41GHZ and the 4400 311/675

Still need some tweaking advice. This rig should have at least another 2,000 3dmarks to go...

there is a lot more info in articles/guides just on the websites,
thats where you get the guidance,
here, you ask a question about something specific, and we'll help you.

For starters, switch to WinXP, there's points right there. Win2K is for AMD rigs, not Intel (if you're looking for 3D marks).

i installed winXP on my 2nd HD. Gained about 300 3dmarks. My high polygon count seems extremely low. Anyone have any insight as to why that might be?

dorokhin,
only the game tests will affect ur score :)

yeah i know but if my high polygon count is too low for my config then that can clue us in as to what is inhibiting the performance in the parts that "count"
