It's too late in the month to start. Unless everybody wants to do a shortened trial version. We could keep submissions open till the end of the month and hold the poll the 1st week of next month.

This months subject will be landscapes. PP is allowed.

-=Rules=-
1: Pic must be taken the in the month of the contest. No digging through the pics you have taken the last 5 years.

2: You can only submit one pic, and no changing your mind later on.

3: The image must fit on the screen at 1024x768 excluding the user bar on the left. Basically it must fit the post window without having to move vertically or horizontally.

Please include a sentence or two with your photo describing what you were trying to achieve and if there were any particular challenges in doing so.

We're all enthusiasts here, so it's also great to see what equipment you used and the settings too. So please also include the following:

Camera Model:
Lens and focal length:
Aperture:
Shutter Speed:
Sensitivity:
Post processing:

Are you sure? The posts that have attachments have a little paper clip in the title right next to the stars if it is a rated thread. There is no paper clip on this one. ?
I don't know what's going on. :(
I can't get them on any of my 3 computers and it doesn't matter what browser. Could it be my ISP?
Also there are threads that I've seen before that had pics before but nothing now.

Well I wish I could see everybody else's before I posted mine so I would know if I had a chance. But here it goes anyway. I hope you like it.

The picture was taken at Loon Lake. Loon Lake is the staging area for one end of the Rubicon.
Nikon D40
18-55 lens close to 18mm
Circular Polarizer
I will have to check the info for shutter speed and aperture
Edited with paint.net
Adjustments include increasing the Hue and decreasing the Saturation, and adding the black background.

Nate: Great shot, nice textures and detail with the prime.
2long4u: Nice shot as well, reminds me a lot of Crater Lake here in Oregon.

Great shots so far. I'll be getting my 100mm F/2.8 Macro lens this Friday or Monday from Newegg, so I'll see what I can get from that.

If I missed it I am sorry, but does the winner of this get moral recognition or an actual prize? I am still gonna try my best anyway but just curious.

Metric: this month is landscapes so you probably don't want to use a macro unless you have a warhammer terain. :D
vashant: So far it's moral recognition. Later on if people want to spring for prizes that might be okay but I'm not the one to ask. You would have to clear that with an admin. I might later on buy some stuff for prizes depending on how this goes. If we have 3 or 4 submissions each month it wouldn't be worth it.

I can see the pics from my work computer go figure. When I try to go to photobucket from home it takes me to some domain home page site.
I see I have my work cut out for me. The other pics are great, but Warboy your's isn't really a landscape.

That's true, but the 100mm has such a large focus range, it doubles as a nice super-sharp, medium telephoto as well :D.

*I hope I can get to the coast for a day before the deadline*

2long4u, your pic seems to have a bluish cast (wrong WB?) and I think you need to lighten it a bit. Other than that, great composition, maybe a bit much sky though.

[XC] 2long4u
06-18-2008, 09:23 PM
Yea I should have used the warming filter also. I tried adjusting it with paint.net but couldn't get it to look right.
The reason there is a lot of sky is because the rock slab had a huge anchor with a cable holding a bunch of flotation bouys, and I didn't want to get it in the pic.
As far as the brightness it looks great on all the flat panals and my crt but the crt that I'm on right now isn't very good (everybodys pics look dim)
Still waiting for Maxxxracer and Soulburner.
Metric: this month submissions are allowed till the end of the month then the poll will open the 1'st of next month.

I'm afraid that since we can't use past images, I won't be able to participate in any further landscape competitions...living in Lincoln, NE, there is nothing to photograph. What I took in Colorado in June is all I have so I guess this is the only chance...shame since I have more.

I voted for corrupt.
Here's why.
It has nothing to do with the quality of the shot. The pic could have been taken with a old 110 camera for all I care.
I don't know where that picture was taken but it reminds me so much of the lakes in Minnesota. That pic just makes me feel so at home.
Thank you Corrupt.
