View Full Version : Another look at the Striker II NSE

The last copule of weeks, i have been testing the ASUS Striker II NSE motherboard.

Normaly, I must admit,i am not to happy about Nvidia´s chipsets. But after playing around with the NSE , its starting to grow on me non the less:)

I deffently lots off fun to tweak this chipset, but can also be quit frustrating:D

It took my some time to work out the best settings for this board, but i am getting there. More results will follow :)

Unfortunatly i only have dualcore to test with right nowm as i just sold 1 of my quad, and 2 days after i the other one died....talk about bad luck:(

3d01 "stability" test

550 boot from BIOS very easy for this board....more tests will folow the comming days:) i will try to waterchill the chipset, to see the effect if any :)

My brief experience with a Striker II Extreme lead me to booting in perfectly fine at 550, and finding stability there, but not 1 MHz higher, even on LN2. Same chips would do ~590 on reference 790i's. Have you gone beyond 550 yet?

Yes i have, but trying to find 3D stability higher than 550 is hard.....

I managed to use nV system tools to go up to 562 (wouldn't POST that high) but it'd crash halfway thru lobby low, seems like there might be some BIOS issue affecting the Striker II's...

The NSE is based on the 790i chipset, while the Extreme is based on the 790i Ultra chipset, which is supposed to offer better overclocking.
