I was unsure where i should put this, but this seemed the most reasonable place. Anyway, this summer, around late July i plan on building a computer. Ive already got most of my stuff set and ready to be ordered, i just would like some more opinions for possible options i have. The original thread i wrote can be found here (http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=244532) You can read it if you like (33 posts), but im reposting my parts below.

CPU
Q6600 - Ive heard nothing but good things about this and its relatively cheap.

GPU
This battle was the 8800GT vs 8800GTS vs 9600GT however i think ill wait til ATI and Nvidia release their new gpus to make this decision.

Motherboard
Im unsure about a few things in this area still; which chipset, P35 or X38. In my original thread P35 won but id like a second opinion. Another thing is, DDR3 vs DDR2. Most have said its not worth it, but what about the following board which features both? The only reason i havent immediately pick it is because another person on NBR stated:

"The Boards that have DDR3 and DDR2 support perform worse than single memory type boards , They benchmark slower memory bandwidth and have higher latencies. They can also somtimes be a bit fussy with what memory you use.
Its because of differances in the BIOS that help with compatibility of the DDR3 memory. Honestly , I dont see it being worth it spending the extra money on somthing you may regret. Id just stick it safe. I previously bought a P5KC with multiple memory type support and it seriously underperformed at the time, I exchanged it for a standard P5K and it made a big impact on speed.

This happend before with DDR to DDR2 change(with the motherboard's that supported both types) but DDR has a completly differnt structure to DDR2 whereas DDR3 and DDR2 are quite similar , Even still the problem exists."

If someone could verify this, I would appreciate it seeing as no one on NBR responded to it.

Suggestions here are welcome as well

The case and sound card are still up for suggestions though im probably going to get a Asus sound card (Note that i am use an HTIB so my inputs are only a 3.5mm and a red/white RCA input) and for a cases id like something with a side window, other than the Antec 900.

just to let you know, threads like this on XS wont get a lot of views and responses, just like how you posted in NBR. it's a newb thread. questions that as for recommendations for complete builds for all components is too general and you should do more research. it also depends on you personal preference and budget.

anyways, the q6600 looks good. dont ever get a mobo that supports both ddr2 and ddr. EP35C sucks and will give you problems because of this. go for ddr2 mobo since it's a lot cheaper and you wont notice the difference in speed. if you want future proof and willing to spend a little more, then go with ddr3. for the memory, get g.skill. more reputable, OC higher, and same price range.

If i were you i'd wait a little bit. Even if new GPU's will be crappy or anythinge else the old ones price will fall for sure.

Im not asking XS for recommendations on every single piece, im asking about (mainly) the motherboard, hence its comments. The other pieces are there to be noted as other pieces that are a part of the build so that someone doesnt come by and say "Hey, that would be a nice build and all, but you got no case".

For the ram, seeing as most ram is made by samsung, hynix and a few other companies, the only reason i could see getting G.Skill especially is if they offer faster timings. If not then ill stick with the ram i showed, Corsair, or OCZ seeing as all offered Lifetime Warranties.
