This build is sponsored by Nvidia, Danger Den, Smooth Creations, Performance PCs, and Crucial.

The purpose is to showcase Nvidia's Hybrid SLI technology. I am not sure what the final project name will be yet. The project will premier at PDXLAN 12 in July and will also be presented at Nvision along with several of my other projects which feature Nvidia technology.

First step: Aquire an awesome globe . . .thanks to Spherical Concepts . . .they gave me a really sweet deal!
Here is a shot from their warehouse

DB, I just can't decide which one of your current builds has a little more awesome than the others in it... they're all sweet! Thumbs up man, stay at home dad and three builds at the same time.. you definitely have not only talent for modding but also for time management.

DB just an Idea,
Have WC come in to cool it, but have it on a spinning axis like most globes are, but instead of a normal Ball bearing joint, have the hollow Ball bearing joint and have the tubing run through the middle of it,
and have a spinning fitting connection (like what koolance has, just not Alu) on the inside of the globe so that the tube will not twist and distort when its spun.... Just and Idea,
Ive seen some of your work, and quite honestly I think you could EASILY pull that off
Regards Gaz

Right now i have it hooked up to a Phenom Black Edition (2.5 ghz) with 8 gigs of Crucial Ballistix Tracer, Asus M3n-HT Deluxe mobo, SLI'd 9800 GX2s, four WD Raptors Xs in Raid 5. All air-cooled until I get my rads back from Smooth Creations next week. I will also get a painted Zeus back that will replace the Stider in this rig. This rig is a Hybrid SLI rig meaning the discreet GPUS only fire up when gaming. I am also making a relay switch that will cut off the pump and fans for the GPU water-cooling loop when the discreet GPUS are not being used.

I am at the coast for a 4th of July mini-vacation so I brought the innards of the globe project so I can work on it and get some work done.

Totally awesome DB! You are an inspiration indeed.

Quick question, a bit off-topic sorry ... can you tell me some good places to get custom acrylic/plastic/sheet metal work done? I know you work a lot with Danger Den, do they offer any custom work to individuals or just those ppl they sponsor? If you have a moment, look at my build log for an idea of what I need.

I am sure they would do custom work for you. Call and ask to speak with Debbi for a quote.

If it spins its Pimp! :) Naw, that would be cool if the globe somehow rotated around the mobotray and miscellaneous parts.

DB, are those green Tracers custom for the build, or can you buy them?

wow very nice, you know what would be cool
if you could put an lcd monitor in it, and fab
some sort of rotating mount that the whole
globe would sit in, sort of like a normal globe
mount, that would be awesome.
