sorry if this has been asked already, but which block (xspc edge vs ek supreme) would be the better performer on a quad core with a pa120.3, swiftech mcp655, and 790i nb block?

my guess would be the xspc edge as it is far less restrictive. you would need a stronger pump for the supreme, especially seeing that you have an extra block in the loop

Depending on the kind of NB block, I would think the 655 would be plenty strong for the EK.

ty for the link. edge it is then. btw, in the review it mentioned it comes with no nozzles. is there a nozzle kit available for this block that would further improve performance on a quad?

btw, are there any us stores that currently have it in stock? all i can find are stores in the uk

yea, I guess it was dumb to recomend a block that is taking its time to get
to the states. I am patiently waiting myself, but it has been in the UK for about a
month so it should show up here very soon. I almost purchased 10 a few weeks ago
just to sell here, but I passed on the deal, it was from the UK/....

So it'seither wait or go with the ek supreme which is still a fantastic block.

I was getting the ek supreme acrillic till I saw the XSPC Edge... :woot:

so it's wait or EK........ Sorry about that!

A nozzle kit....for the XSPS Edge??? The fluid flows from one side of the block to the other. Nozzles would not work with this type of waterblock.

I don't know, they are both excellent blocks and I think both are particularly well designed for the quad core.

It'll be a month or more before I get around to testing my quad on them, currently waiting for my new motherboard so I can properly overclock this Q6600 to start testing on.

Sure, I took Naekuh's advice and went for the DFI Lanparty LT X48 2TR and 4 GB of Dominator 8500C5D...

TomsHardware just posted it as the best overclocking X48 here. (http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/x48-motherboard,1941-29.html)

I'm no expert in motherboards or hardware though, I tend to just look when I'm buying new stuff. Never had a DFI before, I'm not happy with my 680i and a bit concerned about the 32 bios updates it has had since inception so I'm a bit iffy on nvidia chipsets at the moment. Anyhow, no experience with it yet, but it seems to be a pretty good board. I just liked the simple cooling, only one big 8 phase power area to cool, NB, SB,...done.

Better read the AWESOME living review at Clunk's (http://www.clunk.org.uk/forums/reviews/3122-dfi-lt-x48-t2r-lanparty-living-review.html) Marin. I am hoping to pick up that mobo today or tomorrow.

ek supreme would probably be better machined.

but performance, can't say yet, as the edge block is not properly tested yet by several veterans...
