well its finally happened after about more then 2 years of use my 22" syncmaster died, back light started dying, tried reconnecting power, massive black lines with no signal, and then tried it again, and the light on the power button, turns on for a half second then repeats...

I was in warrenty for the next 5 months, so i'm glad it broke now and not later
wait till my UPS store gets the package in and exchange it for a reburished unit, im not sure if ill be getting another after that or not :-/ kinda confused on that

so... yeah im on a old 15" LCD, and res @ max, anything else I can do till a replacement?

Here you go - looks like a 70" monitor and is under $1000 - what a deal!!! Although you can probably get an older model on ebay cheap.

And do you have any idea how many geek points you would get? Lots!

I feel your pain. Just be grateful you didn't have to go back to a monochrome display. Can you imagine having to look at pr0n rendered into ASCII character text files? Wow, does that bring back some memories!

I'm really glad I dual screen with decent sized monitors and have a 40" tv in the other room that can be used as a monitor.

Why don't you try a thrift store? I have seen some nice CRT's (over 19") around here for around $25. Take a laptop to the store to test the monitors.:)

Excellent idea. Or see if there is a freecycle (http://www.freecycle.org/) chapter in your area. I got a 21" Sony CRT from there a couple years ago and passed it on to someone else a couple months ago. You can't beat free.

Once you join, you can also place ads requesting what you want. First I advertised for LCD monitors but didn't get any nibbles so I went for the CRT's and got a lot of responses.
